Non-gap Renko Chart Creator EA

The repainting issue has nothing to do with my or anybody else Renko Creator script. As it has been many time mentioned here and there, in MT4 platform we don't have access to history of ticks, so Renko bricks can be only reconstructed from history M1 candles. This loss of information (M1 instead of ticks) is the root cause of difference when you restart your MT4.

to avoid this "repainting issue" just set up a VPS that run 24h a day.... as I do
important think just set number of bars/objects in history in MT4 settings not too high as it will slow down you MT4 after some time...
and as i do just restart once per month MT4 to clean out MT4 history

Man, I'm such a big fan of your work! Kudos!! I found your non-gap Renko builder while looking for a way to backtest Renko bars. This thread has been very useful to me. All the questions I had were answered in the thread (I read everything from post 1 ). I'm currently running backtests on my ea's and forward testing on demo's. I guess the only question I have for you and other Renko veterans is: have you found a close correlation between backtest results and forward tests. Thanks a lot for your wonderful work. Hats off!!

but plz can u tell me how to solve this issue .. when install new mt4 or when mt4 doesnt show so much history renko bricks ? how to get so much history renko bricks ????

You need to download history data. One way is to use "History Center" from "Tools" menu, like this,

Hi Investitude,

The correlation is highly dependent on the way of preparing history Renko data and the backtest. I can tell the the best way (highest correlation between the backtest and the forward test) is to use real ticks (there are scripts to enable real ticks backtest for MT4), set Period to M1, Model to Every Tick and build Renko bricks in the EA code that you're testing by each and every tick that your EA receives, then apply indicators to the Renko bricks (that have been saved already in the memory) and perform the trading operation based on the strategy of yours. I do this for the ideas that show some promising results. This is the most difficult but accurate way of back-testing Renko EAs.

Nevetheless, for an initial backtest I just use real ticks to create M1 HST files, and backtest on that, which is not as accurate as the above method, but is very good for a quicker and simpler backtesting the whole idea behind the EA.

Yes that indeed is the most accurate way. One thing though, I,m not a programmer by trade. So my programming is limited but I have a lot of time in my hands. So could you perhaps show me how to implement that in a code and I will tussle with it until I get it right? I would very much appreciate it.

Sorry, I have no time nor willing to start such heavy subject at this time. Maybe in the future...

It's not a 'repainting' issue in the way some indicators repaint, giving the illusion of accuracy and effectiveness where it doesn't exist real time. IMO, a non-issue.

I've seen some people asking about a Renko creator for MT5. I do having a working Renko creator for MT5 that I found somewhere on the net. I've been using it for a week or so, and it aslo has an option for non-gap Renko as well.

I made my own ea, working with renko bars
ı have some problem with this renko bar;

1-I attach the ea to renko offline chart.
2-close mt4, wait until new bar is formed and re open mt4
3-Then Ea not working
can you help me about this ?

do you have a cheap rent for your vps and do you have a tutorial to set up one?

Hi, do you have any ideas why some of the bars in the xls file are not loaded?
For example in the picture between 2020.08.13 13:07 and the 2020.08.13 14:49 is there a bar with time 2020.08.13 14:47.
I dont see any difference between the data lines.

I run private VPS by my friends so I can not guide you anything

but ask you broker they often have cooperations with VPS providers or search thru internet "metatrader vps"
plenty VPS providers offer you full package with metatrader setup inclusive
about price: low price = weak hardware, higher price= better hardware... so you have to find out by yourself what offer fit your needs

MT7: sorry to be offtopic here...

This EA doesn't trade! It just creates Renko charts.
