I'm not sure I understand your question Bunkerdoo.
"the RSI of the 1 period momentum (1 period momentum= close today minus close yesterday)" IS the RSI

All you would have to do is add the number of Periods. In your case, 3.

If this is not what you are looking for perhaps a screenshot with notes and additional explanation would help. Resize the Screenshot to max width of 600 pixels.

For clarification. The RSI is usually based on the close and number of periods for calculation e.g. RSI(close,3). Pinball Momentum uses a one period momentum in place of the close e.g. RSI(close today minus close yeterday,3)

I apologise for need for clarification. As I understand it you can take the RSI of any time series you like eg close, high, median price and even the one period momentum c-c[1]. What I would like is the 3 period RSI applied to the one period momentum c-c[1] with the 20 and 80 levels. Is the code you posted the same as the Easy Language version of what I am aiming for ie RSI(c-c[1],3) ?

1H Tunnel with Fibs Lines

Hello Bemac -- Sorry if this is covered and if so please point me in the right direction but I have migrated to the Ren/Bago revised Sidus method which has a large following and which I find a decent system.

I would like to utilise the fib lines on the 1H Vegas/Tunnel method which has been incorporated into the 5/ 12 EMA + RSI (21) methodolgy for exits. But the d/l is a MT4 option. I remember you kindly created something similar for the 4H Tunnel/VWB method so could I trouble you if it does not exist for a One Hour Tunnel with fib lines (ref Vegas) for VT.

Remember tho that VT cannot handle Multiple Entry/Partial Exit systems.

I have been following RenAgo and was actually thinking about modifying a V1HrT to their Specs. Perhaps later this week as I am currently on another project.

I know that VT can handle multiple entries because I use a system with multiple entries that enter based on different conditions. They do all exit simultaneously, but I think I have seen systems that have multiple entries exiting at different intervals and in fact even hedging each other within the same TS. Maybe I am not remembering correctly. When you say multiple entry/partial exit, you may mean buy 2 lots with one entry signal and sell one and then .5 and then the last .5 at different intervals. To do this would require you to code a TS that bought and sold .5's and on the initial entry conditions would execute 4 buy signals (in the case of a long) and then close two buys on one set of conditions and 1 buy on another and the final buy on the final conditions. I believe it can be done, but the counting might be hectic.

A different solution is to open multiple subaccounts with CMS. Four in this scenario. Each account can have a TS (even the same TS) working the same currency pair in the same time frame. Create a separate TS (or use the same TS with different parameters selected i.e. entry filter +20 for 1, +30 for the 2nd, etc) for each account to achieve the the desired different entry conditions and set the exit condition for each account's TS at a different level i.e. using different trailing stop criteria. In effect this gives you multiple (and diverse) entry points into the same currency pair on the same time frame that can each be closed using different conditions ( multiple entries/partial exits) . It's not pretty, but if it works and makes money, who cares what it looks like.

The first idea intregues me. The second seems like a lot of work for a work around that VT should hopefully rectify in the not too distant future.

If I create
5 Entry Conditions that are essentially the same thereby triggering all 5 simultaneously
and then create
2 Exit signals that are essentially the same
and
3 Exit signals which are different [34,55,89] it might just have a chance.

If you remember where you saw this I would be interested in checking it out.

Thanks Bemac, Sorry about wrong thread. This looks fine as I'm content to add/remove partial positions manually. Pity though that VT hasn't got a proper trailing stop like GFT !! but I can live without it.

The Hans123 system is a good example of a system I coded that uses mulitple entries and different exits (as well as hedging if memory serves). There's also a few other trading system's I've coded for users that worked with 1 or more additional signals.

As gnarly_trader mentioned, it's possible (sometimes) to code for partial entry/exits by simply replicating each set of signals n-times and changing the entries/exits as required. HOWEVER, depending of what the user requires along with this, I very often will not code these requests because of: 1) the amount of time involved for such requests and 2) the sheer amount of code necessary to control 3 or 4 different sets of signals all with various entries/exits as well as each having set having their own stoploss, trailingstoploss, and limit, and P/L code is too much for VT Trader's programming language to handle efficiently.

A good test is attaching that full template system to a chart 3 or 4 times with 5,000 bars and seeing how VT Trader and your PC respondes ... then add about 25% additional code overhead since most of the varying sets of signals are based on a previous set(s) of signals. It can get very complicated and CPU-intensive very quickly.

I was kinda thinking along those lines and that there would have to be some Give to correspond with the Take to make it viable.

All the Orders you want {maybe} but no Profit Display or Indicator Output etc...

What do you think my chances of success would be in trying to code something like Vegas whereby you enter 5 lots and exit on 4 different criteria? CPU usage excluded, will VT Trader allow the code?

I don't see why the code wouldn't be "allowed". It'd be difficult to keep track of 5 different sets of signals. Think along the lines of: code the system once for 1 set of signals, then code it again 4 additional times all within the same trading system. I'm not familiar with Vegas' method(s) so depending on the complexity of the logic, I don't know how VT Trader (or your PC) will react. However, if you have to use time/date functions and/or individual stoploss/limit orders, etc. for each set of signals, it might be too CPU intensive. The only real way to know is to code it for one set of signals at a time and test it after including each new set of signals. You'll know once you get to a point where VT Trader just won't run this system within decent limits while receiving streaming quotes ... offline mode may be better though, but I'd still limit the number of bars you load into the chart.

Bemac, I see that Chris has already mentioned the TS I was thinking of that actually had "hedging" in it if I remember right (Han123) . I have a couple of systems that I have added additional entries to, but mine all close at the same time (although I am sure I could code them to close at different times).

Another TS that you might look at is the 4 entries MACD system.

At any rate my experience is very much as Chris says. The more you try to pack into a system the more sluggish it becomes. Here is how I do it: I live trade two charts with 360 bars each. I trade systems that I have backtested over 5000 bars. I do that testing on the weekends and I do it one chart and one TS at the time. Every weekend I retest with the new weeks data and confirm that my TS's are still performing optimally over the 5000 bars. Sometimes in the late afternoon after the NY close and before the Asia open, I will bring up the 5000 bar chart to do some quick testing on some idea or other, but during the trading sessions I am back down to 360 bars. I do not have the problems that are constantly reported with disconnects and sluggishness and window freezes. The only "problem" I have with the latest VT version is that it executes my trades so fast that it forgets to update my open positions window. This requires that I log out and log back in for the update, but so far each time I reload I have found that VT has executed my trading signals correctly. To me, this is a much preferred problem over one where VT sometimes executes and sometimes doesn't.

I appreciate that Chris does not want to commit the VT features team to increasingly more complex TS's. Neither would I. The fact is that traders who lose, always see how they could have won if only such and such were coded into their system. Truthfully, I have never seen the level of support that is already provided by Chris and company being matched anywhere else on the web for the same price.

If you want to work on a project here to code the vegas tunnel in all its complexity, I'd be glad to try and help out as time permitted. There is no getting around the requirement for close of bar execution for automated trading though. (yet)

Interestingly enough Trademe, I built it and plotted it on one of my existing chart setups and it falls in very nicely with the other indicator already on there.
I may just have to have a closer look at it.

Hi Bemac, is that possbile to code a simple trading system that only trade base on the break out of the RSI trendline?

For example, the RSI is gaining up now, with higher highs RSI value and higher low RSI values, a ltrendine is drawn connecting all the higher lows , when this trendline is broken, we short.

To determine ranging market, the RSI should hovering near the 50 RSI value.. for example, we can see alot of whipsaw near the 50 RSI value.

If I understand you correctly, it would certainly not be a simple code.

I don't know if this will seem like more work than it is worth, but here is what I've got.

You will have to identify the Start and End of the Trendline and then Input those parmeters into the TS {Note. I said TS. No Trading Enabled, Just Alerts and Signals}

The Indicator.
Remember to imprt it Using Strategy Builder.
It will show up in Custom Trading Systems as
