Hi guys, this is my first ever post, and I am hoping to find somebody cluey enough that can either convert the VTTrader "Complex Trading System" to MT4, or just use the VT criteria to build a fresh Trading System in MT4.

I don't know if this is a big ask or not, but if it is then I am prepared to pay $ for your time and effort.

Basically, the system generates a BUY signal if the following criteria have been met:

1) RSI (14) has crossed above 50;
2) Short 5EMA has crossed above Long 10EMA, AND:
3) MACD (12, 26, 9) Fast has crossed above MACD Signal Line.

Sound ok? I look forward to any replies. Kirk.

P.S. If anyone hasn't tried the new VT2 Trading Platform, give it a try! It's not bad.

Unsure about this sonicdeejay; I think perhaps I prefer just the signals to be generated (perhaps with an audio alert / email?) and then I pull the trigger myself.

Please clarify the use of MACD in this system.

If MACD (12, 26,9) crossed above the signal line but both the MACD 12, 26, 9 and signal line were below the zero line, would you go long everything else is in line?

Yes aelimian, that is correct. This system doesn't rely on MACD crossing above / below zero, only the fast / signals lines crossing. I guess this is enough when combined with the other elements in play?

Actually, when looking at the signals that are generated in VTTRader this seems to make sense. Although I personally reckon that it would mean a stronger signal if MACD crosses above / below zero in combination with all other signals, but this is not suggested by VTTrader in their trading system notes.

What is the best timeframe.
Any TF will work, depending upon your own trading style. I like it with the 5M charts, but a 4H will work for those more patient than I am! You just need to wait for the alert and go with it, until the trend reverses.

Of course, I ALWAYS go with the daily trend using this system rather than CT.

if you only care about lines being above or below, that's very easy to code. but if you wanna capture crossovers, that'll take just a bit more work...

The follow are a few questions I would ask before coding an EA or indicator that captures crosses...

1. Do you wait for candle to close for a confirmed cross signal or take it as and when it happens prior to candle close? (I can set this as configurable via user input)

2. Should all 3 indicators cross at the same time before generating an alert?

3. If not cross together, what is your buffer of tolerance? "Buffer" is what I call the number of candles required for all 3 crosses to occur and still be a valid signal. (again, this buffer is also configurable via user input, I just want to set a default value first.)

These are crucial questions that needs to be answered. remember we're talking about a robot interpreting your rules. It has to be as precise as possible. A program can't beat the human perception, but with well define logic and precise rules, it can be close.

Your first question is perhaps best set as user defined, as I am unaware of actually how VT does this; I suspect it is bfeore candle closes though. I have sat and watched VT at the time when a signal is generated and it does happen before candle close. I would argue that a better signal would be generated upon candle close, but that's just my 2 cents' worth.

2) Yes all 3 indicators need to have crossed before an alert is generated; not necessarily at the same time, but only once ALL have crossed.

3) I am unsure about this, sorry. Perhaps others can chime in here? In VT it is just automatic once the 3rd indicator has crossed, and I haven't noticed any specific rhyme or reason regarding numbers of candles for this to happen.
Perhaps you have an idea yourself Zen?

Would you be prepared to download VT2 and have a go at interpreting the Complex Trading System yourself? A bit much to ask perhaps, but you may be interested in knowing how this works from a VT perspective?

Attached is a copy of a 30M chart with the trading system in action. It clearly shows the signals generated by a red or blue arrow, along with the bottom strip of 'bulls' or 'bears' in either blue or red also, which is a great visual aid.

Can you post a few more screenshots of except with the chart zoomed in further? I suspect it doesn't wait for candle close for the 3rd cross. I want to be sure of this before I start coding.

Hi again Zen, here iswhat you are after. I am certain that the signals are generated as the system recognises that all 3 indicators have crossed, regardless of whether the candle has closed or before. I hope this helps you. Kirk.
