FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - It is worth noting that the SNB blamed some ‘technical’ reasons when the pair violated the floor on April 5, increasing the rhetoric about the central bank’s commitment to defend the minimum exchange rate with uttermost determination since then.

Now, let’s summarize the situation so far: the SNB has set the peg at CHF 1.20 per euro on September 6; since then, and along with worsening conditions in both the euro zone and the alpine economy, SNB’s officials has sparked the ‘warnings’ that a) the Swiss franc remains ‘overvalued’ and b) a lift in the floor to 1.25/30/40 would follow if deflation pressures threaten to entrench in the economy; by the time December 15 came – last quarterly meeting of 2011 - the central bank has disappointed the franc bears, keeping the peg intact and thus originating a sharp appreciation of the franc (that lasts until today), dragging EUR/CHF as low as the boundaries of 1.2000, accelerated by another meeting in mid-March with exactly the same results.
In parallel, and opposite to the wishes of a weaker franc, the Swiss economy has been experiencing some sort of recovery since March and the euro zone debt woes have been hovering again as of late, thus prompting the investors to fly towards the safe haven.

Now, what to expect? Market talks range from a long waited lift in the floor to CHF 1.25 at least, to capital controls, negative interest rates (already seen in recent bond auctions) and capital taxes. Not few analysts think that once the Council appoints the new SNB governor – T.Jordan most likely – the floor would be raised.

In the meantime, as M.Mohi-uddin, Director of Foreign Exchange Strategy at UBS, suggests “…if EUR/CHF does test 1.20 again, stronger intervention by the SNB would be welcomed by the investors who remain nervous of a broader decline through the figure…”

This too much talking about the snb and the eurchf peg is starting to become weird, we must follow the pair priceaction and be very careful..

ZURICH, April 18 (Reuters) - A majority of experts expect the Swiss National Bank to stick to its 1.20 per euro cap on the franc for the next six months but almost a third see a shift to further weaken the safe-haven currency within the next year, a survey showed on Wednesday.
The survey of financial analysts carried out by Credit Suisse and the German ZEW economic research institute on April 2-13 found 81 percent expect no change in the next six months and 63 percent see no change in the next six to 12 months...

Oh, somebody (the majority of "experts") don't expect any peg-rise in the next 6-12 months, just imagine, eurchf in 10-20 pips range for the next 6-12 months.

10-20 pips per day x 360 = we can earn 3600-7200 pips a year

Eheh, everybody expect something in the next quarter, it's happening from almost 1 year. Time pass, and expectations slips to the "next quarter", again and again. Some rumors, some market talk, failed expectations, new expectations for the next quarters, and so on..
Looks like the best strategy to make money out of this pair is just with options, the only "sure" thing is that price will not break the 1.20 barrier, that can be enough to make some good money.
