Disliked{quote} I don't know what you mean by the London open - do you mean equities? Just to be clear: London forex desks open 0630am/0700am London time, and London equities open 0800am London time. in fact most if not all Uk asset-class markets are already open now. Forex and equities make up a big part of the total inter-asset class flows.Ignored
Disliked{quote} Doesn't matter, main volume start when equities start trading. And that's 8.00am With what are you buying your stocks with? You can trade Forex around the clock, that doesn't mean it's liquid all the time.Ignored
Disliked{quote} Generally agree, but you might be surprised how many orders are placed in the 1st hour of London forex open say from 0700am London time. Markets can move in thin liquidity also, and many times thin liquidity can lead to so-called 'exaggerated' moves. In the U.s they used to call/still call the 1st hour of the DJIA open the 'fools hour' because all the retailers/so-called 'dumb-money' rushed in @ the open.Ignored

Disliked{quote} Which is why i said that london open (8.00am) often times reverses "exaggerated moves" prior to itEverything is "thin" compared to what starts happening after 8.00am. During thin liquidity, it's best to hunt stops. Sometimes their so big it makes sense to hunt them 500pts away in a matter of seconds if there's noone defending it.

Disliked{quote} Yeh, I get what you are saying. Is your observation anecdotal or empirical? Ie do you have a large multi-year sample size of evidence of this to say that the phenomenon/pattern represents an actual trading edge in itself, or is it just an anecdotal (non-recorded) observation? Just interested, Thanks.Ignored
