Yes, cable = pound = sterling = GBPUSD.

The origins of this term are attributed to the fact that in the 1800s, the dollar/pound sterling exchange rate was transmitted via transatlantic cable.

Pound Sterling bottom pic - From wikipedia

Cable is a foreign exchange term used for the GBP/USD currency pair rate (British Pound vs the US Dollar). It derives its name from the Transatlantic Cable, a steel cable laid under the Atlantic Ocean in 1858, telegraphically linking the UK with the USA, enabling messages with currency prices to be transmitted between the London and New York Exchanges.

1st rule - protect/preserve capital. not sure - don't trade.

even if 99% of the people you ask say there will or will not be major impact...the question is what kind of risk do you want to take. there is always new opportunity in the market.
