I don't know if there will be a deal or no deal, but one thing is for sure, people here in UK will get the biggest reality check of their lives in 2021. It would take 5-10 years of pain to rebuild, and probably decades to mitigate the effect of Brexit. So from FX perspective, I agree we are probably witnessing the last hurrah for the pound.

Deal or no deal. Mini deal or no mini deal. All this is kind of irrelevant and massively priced in fundamentals. 1.33 is set for a break. GBPUSD has unfinished business at 1.34x. When it gets there, it might attract sellers, which for now remains to be seen.

The price actions in GBP/USD in the third quarter of 2020 were choppy as it cracked two declining trend-line resistance levels in quick succession and surged to a high of 1.3481, not far from the 2019 peak of 1.3516. The advance was however short-lived, as GBP/USD plummeted quickly from the high and at the time of writing in late September, it just cracked a critical support level near 1.2730. The break of the critical support level amidst weekly RSI unwinding from overbought levels indicates that GBP/USD could weaken towards 1.2470. The next support at 1.2250 may not come into the picture within these few months. All in, the early September high of 1.3481 could mark the top for 2020 and any recovery in GBP/USD is expected to face stiff resistance at 1.3150.

My view this week is a possible top of 1.3320/1.3380 and a possible low of 1.3080/1.3140.

My bias is a bearish weekly close around 1.3170 area.

Actually 1,37x can be the next major resistance level and it can be reached before the end of January 2021. From there -> down to 1.31x levels.

Many technical traders dismiss fundamentals and just "trade their chart", which is fine. But saying both deal and no deal are priced in at the same time makes no sense to me. Similarly, you could say both Brexit and no Brexit are priced in just before 2016 referendum, and find out they weren't at the cost of 2000 pips.

At that time, market priced in high probability of UK staying, and corrected when it proved wrong. Now it prices in high probability of deal and will correct if no deal is reached.

BTW are you short on GBPUSD?
As I mentioned my view is bullish, but I would expect a short term decline down to somewhere between 1.31 and 1.32 before it resumes the trip upwards to 1.34x .. Possibly even higher after re-testing 1.328x - 1.33.

What do you think?
