Thanks Don for the reply and the insight. I will keep learning how volume and price relate in FX.

I was just checking this market this morning. Looks like price broke higher as anticipated.

For what its worth:

I have read another way to think about volume is equate it to "interest". As Ticks start ticking like a tap dancer that will raise the interest (volume) bar, and visa-versa.

By the way anyone know where I can get a free Volume at Price indicator (VAP)?
I maybe cheap, but I think I am in good company.

I've found this site extremely helpful. It's the closest thing to actual order flow I've seen in retail FX;. https://www.oanda.com/forex-trading/...rex-order-book

Thanks for the information. Just be careful about one thing: those are information on Oanda's retail clients, which have almost no impact on price.

A quick update on the GBP/USD - Short:

NFP didn't fill the pending order (which kind of surprised me). Low volatility at (or near a top) often means there is just no further order flow to push things higher...I went ahead and manually entered a smaller position short at the end of the day and we'll see how this goes this week.

Something of interest that I have been observing with more clarity lately. The three phases that I continue to mention don't have to be in any particular order. And it doesn't seem to matter which time frame you watch as it appears to be valid on all time frames.

Something that is playing out right now is of great interest to me. Yes its a monthly chart and yes it will take probably at least two months to see if this is true...so what? If I am right, this formation should create a bearish bias on this pair until the next monthly swing point forms.

if I were you I would consider your second climax bar and absorption as absorption. It is clear that on second climax bar there is presence of sellers trying to have upper hand...

It seems obvious in retrospect but that second climax bar doesn't always form like that and it does not fit my definition of the exhaustion. That being again... rising on less volume. This bar had even more volume. And the swing point had not yet formed. That formed on the next candle.

Assume you are also aware of prior swing low support turned to resistance and two fib retracement levels:

I was (am) and for my way of thinking it only adds more evidence of a bearish bias. However, for me, long gone are the days where I place an order at those levels and then hope price will turn. I prefer to anticipate the changes in order flow then watch it happen then take action. My point for this post was for me to observe the phases of exhaustion and be able to action based more on actual order flow and not some imaginary line in space.

Understand I take it you don't care for fibs (not me) but I hope you don't consider support turned to resistance also some imaginary line in space?

Bro, from what I read about VSA, Absorption in a down bar after an up bar imply strength, so it refer to bullish scenario. You can further search on it. But below one of the link.

Forgive me...no offense meant. I'm not a big fan of fibs...but neither am I a huge supporter of "support/resistance". It is order flow that creates these areas and order flow that breaks them. I am weary of the "just place your order here at support (or resistance)" school of thought. IF these area are valid I will see it as a change in the order flow...and if the are NOT valid the order flow will blast right through. Either way I will know when and when NOT to engage.

Anything else is just after the fact "gee whiz look where it turned..." Imaginary lines out in space.

1 of the 2 green bars you marked may signal a bear.
