{quote} Forgive me...no offense meant. I'm not a big fan of fibs...but neither am I a huge supporter of "support/resistance". It is order flow that creates these areas and order flow that breaks them. I am weary of the "just place your order here at support (or resistance)" school of thought. IF these area are valid I will see it as a change in the order flow...and if the are NOT valid the order flow will blast right through. Either way I will know when and when NOT to engage. Anything else is just after the fact "gee whiz look where it turned..."...

This trade is starting to work, but selling still hasn't pushed through the buying area yet (support). Tick activity still isn't indicating bearish strength, but there is seems to be a definite lack of buying interest. Thus this fall in prices seems more lack of demand than new supply.

Don, interesting thread, as retail traders we only get to see volume our brokers provide. However, on the higher time frames, I agree, a relevant snapshot of
transactions and trade levels of interest by those moving much more $ than those of us(most anyways) at this dollar level. Volume at price
is something I have been also keen on, several companies such as Sierra offer this view, for example, I have one of my accts through ninjatrader
(using a forex.com feed) so it can show me vol (bottom of the graph in blue, and volume zones, basically vol at price. Thought this might help in
looking at the bigger picture.

I'd love to find something similar for the oanda trading platform, but alas nothing is forth coming. I know that oanda offers MT4 but I am NOT a fan of that platform. I prefer simpler and more meaningful "hands on" approach to evaluating the markets. I agree that volume at price would be very helpful. I would love to study it more...

Another trade I am tracking and about to trigger an entry. NZD/USD-Short:

Looks like that price has come into an area of resistance (for lack of better term) and is exhausting into this area. I am a bit caution of this trade as we are right in the middle of a larger range, seen best on the monthly chart. We'll just have to see what happens here...If I am wrong, and IF price does what it typically does in a range, I will get blown out in a few days with this trade as price rockets higher. If I am NOT wrong, we will most likely retest the bottom of this range again.

price looks like it wants to jump higher as I feared originally. I have moved my stop down to today's high and looks like I might stop out tomorrow if not later today. If price closes below yesterday's low I will hold the position into tomorrow, however if price closes above the high, I'm out with a small loss. Perhaps I should make a rule about this...as with my futures trading...don't engage in the middle of a range.

I may be jumping the gun just by an hour or so, but this looks like it might work out ok. After such a non-stop rise from December, I figure a pull back is over due. We are also near the top of a much larger range, seen best on the monthly chart.

NZD/USD - short covered.

Today's price reaction created what I would describe as a break of the previous two day range with accompanying climax level volume, so I have closed the trade with a little more than a 22 pip loss. I guess you can't win them all.

While there still has not yet been a retest of the most recent high today's price reaction has closed in the area where buying was dominant over the past 6 days. And this with climax level tick activity suggests more down side to come. I will leave the pending order in place until the end of the week to see if it triggers in the next couple of days. Take profit has been set for 310 pips. (3xR)

{quote} I use absorption and mini-absorption as the final trigger in my trading . . . very high % of trades will reach BE, many trades will earn high RR profits, and few trades will hit initial SL. Busy with holiday, family, travel, but should you want to explore further we can discuss. The following signals were programmed into sierra chart using very similar logic to what you described. Hey Nik, would you mind posting the code you use in sierra charts to get those signals. I am curious and would like to back test the results. Thanks!

Hello friends...its been awhile since I posted here...sorry for the lapse...its been difficult with family commitments and other issues. But I have been able to do some (what I consider) significant advances in thinking and I believe I may have found a way to quantify some form of "extrapolated" delta for use in my volume studies that I believe has potential to be a great tool for trading spot forex.

However...I am NOT a coder and at this stage of the game I have NO time to try and learn. Is there anyone out there that can help out? I would dearly love someone who codes C Sharp (C#) or even mq5. If you would like to offer to help out please pm me. Of course I am willing compensate a reasonable amount for your work.

Thanks

Sent you a pm...thanks for your support...I really hope this doesn't turn out to be a group of people who are happy to receive a little but begrudged to give a little...we'll see.

This is what I am working on. I have done the calculations with Excel and can graph them but putting them together with price action is a royal pain and I am unable to get this to line up perfectly...however...

Look at how the delta volume differs entirely from just tick volume. Again this is extrapolated, and I need to study it more and would really need a programmer to help out...I'm sure for a coder, it could be done in a few hours. I am doing it by hand on just EUR/USD

DonPato,

I feel if we open a separate thread in the "Platform Tech" section, we could see some traction with respect to the coding help.

Thanks
