To save a chart you can either take a screenshot, or you can right click on your chart and 'Save as a Picture'. Writing notes on the saved picture depends on what software you use. You can get away with MS Paint that comes with Windoze. I use Photoshop, but there is plenty of free software available that will do the job

Even I managed 50 pips off UJ which made my day! I have been trading out way too soon to add to my account which has become a bad habit - it results in leaving far too much on the table. I'm hoping I took the Swiss Bank's afternoon tea money!

On with the homework - no, not vacuuming or dusting - scrolling through some charts and checking out Thomask's template which looks very interesting and something that might help those in need of discipline......

Thanks for that Eric....that was a good read. As it happens, I do notice one or two people lurking even though they can not post to our thread, so I hope they are reading and learning something

thanks for the template.
There is a difference though to what I use from the one you posted.
You have used on stoch tape the parameters as seen below. I use the default parameters of 11-3-0-1
The results can be seen at the screen shot I attached. You have a "down signal" on H1 tape where I have an "up signal".

I do not say mine is the correct and the other is wrong.
I just say how I use it.

Some arrows with alert would be fine when all values show green light.

this is very strange because on my chart the tape signal is UP. I tried to study the Xaphod's algorithm to understand the reason why but without success.... maybe he can help us.

Concerning the different settings it is just a personal preference. Take into account that MAMethod = 3 was a my mistake but it doesn't seem to influence much the tape;instead the PriceField makes the difference (at least with me). I try to have the stoch which doesn't go flat on top or bottom of the range to interppret it better at least from a visual standpoint.

Attached my chart same time where you can look at my yape and the different stoch behavior when you set 1 or 0 in the Pricefield.

During the week end I tested your idea which I am sure is very interesting but I belong to the old school (due to my age) and I prefer to look at the analogic signals

Instead of asking other people to "provide" for you....."provide" for yourself. Thomas is using only the tools via this thread or the additional tools from the Genesis System Tools and his template can be recreated easily IF you just try......and you will learn a lot if you make an effort.

I can see why you like the stoch tape on your charts Thomas, and I have spent a lot of time over the weekend testing your method over various currencies. I have to agree with Wiz3003 here though, the original stochastic gives much information that just isn't available via the stoch tape. I've said this many time before, but I will say it again....the stochastic oscillator is more than a simple oversold/overbought indicator, and I feel that a lot of vital information is lost if it's treated in that way, or if it using as a 'rising/falling' indicator. If the #MTF stochs are placed on the chart with the same settings as your stoch tape settings, I believe that you are going to be considerably better off with the #MTF stochs simple because they 'tell the whole story' of what is going on, rather than the 'condensed story.'

However.....I do see why you like it, but for me, I don't see it as a step forward....I prefer to see the stoch lines and gauge the market action and strength with the more complete information provided by the traditional stochastic indicator.

Not sure what I'm supposed to do.

The tape draws the slope up/overbought or slope down/oversold of the main stoch signal.
You can put the Stoch-MTF on the chart with the same settings to verify the tape signal.

The red tape signal when the price is shooting up looks wrong. It is not there in your last screen shot. A glitch?
In case you missed what I said before, I will be trading M15 for 4 weeks and posting the results at the end of the test. I will post trades as and when I can.

Here is my first, and yes, it is in mid Tokyo session but the trend is down and this is the first M15 signal on EU. The lower stoch is #mtf30 btw.....

The trade is still alive but not looking to great at this moment.....the SL is at 25 pips (over the swing high) so we'll see where this goes. First trade of many in M15, so early days!!
