Welcome to your Genesis Matrix Trading thread. Here we will focus on trading with the Genesis Matrix System and it’s associated supplied indicators.

If you wish to participate in this thread, you must first be approved by the Genesis Team.

To gain approval, you must have read this entire post very carefully, and understood the Rules of the Thread and the FAQ. You would be well advised to read (at least) the 100 most recent pages of the thread.

If you have read and understood this post (Post #1), you may send a Private Message (PM) to realjumper requesting permission to join to the thread. Once your request has been considered, you will be notified of the result. The decision will be final. The Genesis team sometimes is not accepting new applications due to (most likely) the team not being available to process the applications. You application will be considered the next time the team is available. Please be patient.

Permission to post in this thread is no longer required. The thread is now open to all and from this post on, I will no longer be participating here. My PM feature is turned off so you may not contact me.

Posts prior to my final post are (more or less) in accordance with the thread rules. I cannot comment on anything after my final post.

RJ

Below I will spell out the few rules of the thread. The rules are non negotiable and if you break any of these rules, you will be banned from the thread. Let me be quite clear.....if you break any of these rules it can be for only one of two reasons:

1. You didn't read this post
2. You ignored the rules

Either way....you will be banned from this thread. You will not get a second chance.

All the necessary indicators and a template are supplied for you in a zip file at the bottom of this post.

EDIT: Build 600+ compatible files are also located at the bottom of this post.

You may also use any of the additional indicators from the Genesis System Tools thread as developed for us by Xaphod.

NO OTHER INDICATORS WILL BE PERMITTED without prior consent from one of the Genesis team members. To date, the only exception has been for some moving averages to be used in the way explained here by Martyfish

We use the Heiken Ashi candles with this system and the reason for that is twofold :

1. HA candles tend to smooth out a lot of the 'noise' associated with trading the M5 chart
2. It prevents you becoming biased to the long or short side due to traditional Japanese candlestick patterns and formations, which are inherently unreliable on the small Time Frames (TF).

I have heard all the excuses as to why someone should be allowed to use the Japanese Candles, and none of the excuses fly......this system uses HA candles, so get used to it! Put your prejudice, fear, bias, unfamiliarity aside and open your mind. There is a PDF document further down this post which explains HA candles to you...read it!

We use the Heiken Ashi Candles here, end of story!!

~ The Rules of the thread ~

1. No indicators other than those supplied in the zip file below, or in the Genesis System Tools thread as developed for us by Xaphod are to be used without the prior consent from one of the Genesis team. You may change the colours of the indicators on the template if you wish.

2. Predictions as to where the PA is going next will not be tolerated. Quite clearly, no one knows where the PA is going next and we are not going to make guesses at it. We trade the Genesis Matrix System, we do not make predictions.

3. We won’t entertain, or tolerate any technical analysis (TA) or fundamental analysis (FA) that leads to a bias for long or short trades, or any other bias whatsoever.

4. If you are new to trading, read no further, you're in the wrong place. This system is not for newbies to FX trading, so do not come here asking and/or expecting to be shown how to trade.....the experienced traders will not show you any mercy!! Instead, go to babypips/school and do their entire course. It is free and it is extremely good. You will learn much there.

5. Before you post your question, consider that your question has almost certainly been asked and answered before. Use the search function at the top of each page and search for your answer. If you have searched and cannot find the answer, then ask and we will try and help. Be very sure that you have searched first though, because it's easy to see whether you have tried or not, and we won't be spoon feeding lazy posters.

Be aware.....break any of these rules are you're gone from here. I know it sounds harsh, but I am very serious about this. I do not have the time to keep reminding people over and over again as I have done previously. Read the rules and abide by them. We are serious about trading here......we're not here for a laugh, we're here to take the banks money and we are serious about that.

FAQ:

1. What Time Frame can I use the Genesis System on?
We tend to use the M5 and/or the M15 timeframe, however the system works on all TF's

2. Which currency pairs does it suit?
Any currency pair is fine. As with any system, it works best in a trend rather than a ranging market, but any pair will work. Gold and Oil work as well also.

3. I have tried Heiken Ashi candles for several weeks now, and I have read the Heiken Ashi PDF, but I just don't like them. Can I use Japanese Candles please?
No you can't, but.......what you do on your computer at home is entirely up to you! However, any chart you post to the thread *must* abide by the rules, including the Heiken Ashi candles. So if you want to use Japanese Candles at home....fine.....just make sure that any charts you post to the thread abides by the rules.

4. Do these indicators repaint?
No, none of the Genesis indicators repaint. It may seem that way if you have (say) an M15 indicator on your M5 chart, but once the period candle has closed, in this case, the M15, then the indicator paints to the chart permanently. Of course while the M15 candle is still in progress, the indicator may *seem* to repaint because the candle is not yet closed. This question has been addressed many times so you can search for more in depth explanation.

5. On the recent charts posted, I see no Arrows, but I see an extra Matrix. Why do some charts have no Arrows and why do some charts have this extra Matrix?
Ok ,the 'extra Matrix' that you see on some peoples charts is actually the Arrow(s) represented in a Matrix, rather than an actual Arrow painted on the chart. If you put the Arrows AND the 'extra Matrix' on the chart, you will see that they match....perfectly.

This 'extra Matrix' is named the ASCTrend and it can be found on the thread of Xaphod here. This very cool addition makes the charts cleaner and easier to read, and the code behind ASCTrend is much more efficient than the Arrow code is, so your computer will have less work to do. The Arrows still work just great, and ASCTrend works great too....you can choose which you prefer.

6. I have downloaded the zip file and installed everything, but one line (or more) of the Genesis Matrix is one solid colour, it never changes. What's going on?
The most common reason for this is that you do not have all the indicators properly installed. The Genesis Matrix draws it's data from the indicators in the zip file, and it looks to the 'experts/indicators' folder to find the indicators it needs. If the indicators are not in the 'experts/indicators' folder, then the Genesis Matrix cannot display the data!

The only other is a Microsoft permission problem that exists on Window Vista and Windows 7, I don't know about Windows 8. It's a common problem that Microsoft has inflicted upon us, and more information can be found here, which will help you out.

Who we are. ‘We’ are small group of traders who’s style of trading is similar. Most of us trade to put food on the table, so it is our only income. Where possible we will help you and we will post trades and charts. However, we are not going to hold your hand and walk you through trades because you are too lazy to ready this thread!

The current Genesis Team of developers is:

Xaphod. Xaphod has been a fantastic help and continues to work tirelessly to bring us more and better indicators that are tailor made for Genesis, and we thank him very much for the work he does and the elegant code he writes. The Genesis System Tools thread of Xaphod is located here

Wiz3003. An engineer who is extremely thorough and his attention to detail is what makes Wiz a valued member of the team. He is a systems testers dream come true, and you can be sure that when Wiz tests and documents something new for us, it is as good as it gets.

RJ. Not much to say about me……I have been around for a while and have learned to trade the hard way and I’m still here. Gradually I have tried systems that appeared good on the surface, but nearly all of them fail in the end. The Genesis Trading System is impressive in it’s simplicity and ability to provide pips for me, and I am happy to be part of the team to present it to you.

Past Genesis Team members are:

Olivia (Ohammond) . Olivia was the 2ic, or ‘2nd in charge’ for this thread. Olivia and RJ have very similar trading styles and are in touch with each other on a regular basis. Olivia's trading skill and honesty is here for all to see on the thread and she has been a tremendous help not only to me personally, but to the thread and all it's members. Olivia is not available at this time, but we are keeping her seat warm until she returns!

Cody. Cody is an extremely willing and passionate trader and coder who writes some fantastic code to help keep this thread and this system at the front of the line. He has given countless hours to the thread and some of his ideas are truly amazing. Much of the code we use today, we owe Cody for. I expect Cody will drop in from time to time, and we are keeping his seat warm too!

Oli (olivierforex). Oli started trading in 2003, when EU reaching nearly 1.20 was the big news. He Joined FF 18 months ago and started to look to trade the more noisy smaller TFs with indicators but didn't find anything that suited his personality until he stumbled on Symphonie a few months ago, which lead to joining the Genesis Matrix trading system! Oli trades trade a bit of everything but mainly indices and that's why he often 'disappears' from the thread before the Wall Street open. Oli seems to have disappeared in 2013, but we'll keep his seat warm as well.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a system for noobies to FX trading. Do not come here asking and/or expecting to be shown how to trade.....the experienced traders will not show you any mercy!! Instead, please go to babypips/school and do their course. It is free and it is extremely good. You will learn much there.

This Post is the only post that will remain editable by me forever. All developments and important points will either be placed here or will be linked to from here to provide a handy index of useful posts and tools.

Good luck and best wishes.

RJ

The screenshot below shows the basic way I trade. Other people have other variations of trading the Matrix, but for those of you who don’t know me, this is a quick guide for what I look out for.

Firstly, I trade only from The Frankfurt market open, which is 1 hour before London open…….until approximately 2 or 3 hours after New York open. I don’t trade the Asian markets as a habit, because they are too slow and prone to small movements, but if I see something juicy I might enter a trade. There are more pips available after I finish trading sometimes, but that is usually past 2am for me, so I am asleep!!!

So….here we go….I will enter a Sell trade if all the following conditions have been met:

  1. The Matrix is all the same colour after the current candle is closed, ie, Matrix cannot repaint
  2. Stochastic if falling from a recent overbought state
  3. A Bear candle has opened under the Yellow 5 EMA
  4. The Arrow…..now I don’t always wait for the arrow because in a sudden PA reversal it may be late…but….if an arrow doesn’t arrive within the next couple of candles, I become concerned!!

The trade exit.

The exit is always harder than the entry because we want to stay in the trade for as long as it runs…..but we don’t know where the run will end!! So generally speaking, I will exit at a support/resistance line. This could be a pivot line, a previous high/low area, a round number etc etc.

In this case, the exit was none of the above!! However, the PA began to stall and could make no further progress….and….a big doji candle appeared…..and….tha candles began to move above the Yellow 5 EMA…..and…..the Stochastic began to climb. That’s enough reason for me to exit the trade….or…..al least bring your Stop Loss down into a decent profit area so that some of your profit is protected. That way you will definitely make a profit, plus you will be in a good position if the bear run resumes.

Edit: Stop Loss for shorts goes above the previous swing high, and for longs, below the previous swing low. Having said that, the Stop Loss is not there for you to sit and watch get hit if the PA turns around. It's there as emergency protection. The idea is that you recognise that the PA has turned and you need to manually exit the trade and consider entering the opposite way

RealJumper and Olivia,

I see you have started a new thread based on Symphonie Trader System.

Here is wishing you both best of luck in your new thread. I am sure it will be successful as you both are very good traders and will have many examples to show people your style and Symphonie adapted method.

Thank you for the thread RJ,

i am a fan of Gann and CCI, so i really like this Matrix indicator

I have also a few questions:
-your exit is at S/R line, but do you use TP (or trailing stop)?
-where do you place the Stop Loss?
-what is you risk % per trade?

Keep up the good work!

Ahhhh....the SL placement.....lol....good point, I forgot to mention that in post #1. I'll edit that in a sec.

SL for shorts goes above the previous swing high, and for longs, below the previous swing low.

I don't use a set TP, although I have an idea in my head. For instance, if I enter a short just under the daily pivot, my initial target will be S1.....unless there is any other support line that comes along first. When (and if) S1 is reached, I will target S2, or some other support line that may come first.....like a round number or previous support area etc.

% risk per trade is very much up to the individual. I like use 2% but others I know use 5%....others use 1%.....still others vary the %age depending on the PA. I don't there is a 'right or wrong' way to do it.....it's what you are comfortable with.

congratulations to the new thread !

Newbie question here,

what will you do the the matrix signal shows a opposite signal to your trade

- when you're not in profit ?

will you just close the trade? will you going in a new trade?

- when you are in profit ? you will just let the trade run / close it ?

and you will take the actions when

- there is full opposite signal?

- only TVI signal?

- any of the matrix square?

thanks !

Well, if it is a proper "signal", ie Matrix is complete the other colour, oh yeah....I will exit for sure.....in fact I probably already did! If the reversal is a strong one, I will look for the same conditions as in post 2 and enter. If the reversal is against the trend, I will probably wait and see if the trend resumes, and look to re-enter.

Generally speaking, I start manually trailing my trades from about +20 onwards. So when a trade is in profit by at least 20 pips, I will move my SL to break even and eliminate the risk. As we get further on in the thread you will see this in action.

Depends. If the counter move is just the market 'breathing', then I will let it go. If it seems like a full blooded reversal, then I will exit. It's a tough call and one that only comes with experience.

It's combination of some Matrix signals, but mostly it depends on the Stochastic and what caused the reversal. Was it just a bounce of the Pivot like we have just seen? Was it because Bernanke was running his mouth? The reason for the reversal, if indeed it is a reversal, should let us know what to do.

Sometimes, there are counter trend trades that I will will take. If we get a full opposite signal....ie Matrix + Stochastic + Yellow 5EMS + Candle opening clear under/over the Yellow 5 MA and there is no reason NOT to enter.....like a pivot/round number etc.....then I will enter the counter trend trade...BUT.....I will move my SL to break even pretty smartly to protect myself.

Hi RJ,

please find attached the DinapoliTargets indicator. It draws the most important Fibonacci levels.

The red line is your SL, white is where you should open the trade and the three other lines are TP levels.

Personally i am using it on 15M and 1H charts, trading in the 1H direction.
