hey folks

I have more than one live a/c with thinkforex (check my trade explorer). I have had a bit of followup with them re this outage, and am confident that they are genuinely addressing the issues and implementing preventative measures.

The web site and the mt4 server are now up and working (i am accessing from oz)

I hope this post serves to calm some nerves out there

That maybe just you, its been rather stable for a couple of hours now.

What I really want to know is, as a result of this outage has anyone had a negative trade and tried to get ThinkFX to revers it.

yes. I had a draw down on my long xauusd, which is ok as i am buying for longer term price averaging. against my longer term positions, i take short scalps when appropriate to manage draw downs. i intended to short yesterday around 1175 but could not get access due to the outage. bottom line, i explained the situation to tf, and they entered my short at 1175.

it was this morning, around 1167 - quite neat of them i think.

if anyone looks at my previous posts, you will notice that i am the first to blast the rust bucket broker shops. i have experienced a few in the past, but tf seems to be the genuine aussie battler wanting to do the right thing by its customers

Hi All,

To confirm, we experienced an outage across our network caused by a rather high scale DDoS attack (some lovely people out there...).

Any trades impacted will of course be updated to the appropriate price as msood has pointed out above. Please keep in mind that I am working through all of the trades reported to us as soon as possible, but it may take some time to rectify all of them. Obviously we do not want any client to have suffered a loss as a result of the unscrupulous members of society so we will be making the suitable adjustments for clients that email [email protected] with the full details of the trade (including account number, trade ID and desired price.

Regards,
Chris

The ThinkForex website, MT4 server and cPortal are now all fully functional.

There was downtime of the website and MT4 but neither were down for the full 14 hours. Again we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and assure you we have been working hard through the night to resolve any issues, queries and questions.

If you have been adversely affected with closing positions etc. then please send information to [email protected] and each case will be fully investigated as quickly and efficiently as possible.

And we are down again.

This is now getting beyond sad, going into a second day of an outage.

Yep down again. Phone support has no clue how much longer this will last. Phone support just said servers in London are down, no mention of DDoS attack. Forex Factory seems to be only site we are somewhat kept informed. Website or social media no info about what is happening.

To Thinkforex:

While waiting for your system to stabilize and get over its dos hangup, can customers use the webtrader or something to do trades - these can later be synced to the mt4 servers - of course, assuming that the webtrader is on a different platform...

alternately, maybe organize a demo account on another server for your customers to enter trades which can later be reflected in the real account?

Thanks for the suggestions - unfortunately but we cannot sync trades after the event (and you'd need the website to access WebTrader).

Hi All,

Just a quick update to inform you that any client that has contacted us with a trade enquiry stemming from the outage has been sorted out, and that no losses were incurred as a result of the outage. Obviously, we can all agree that we'd rather not have hackers attacking networks leading to these issues, but on occasion unforeseen circumstances can occur and the important thing is that no client will have suffered financially on any trades.

If any of you need any other trade looked at, please do send it through and I'll be onto it as soon as possible, or if you have any questions I'll be happy to reply.

Thanks,
Chris
