Respected Xaphod,
Thanks for this "Xaphod's Supertrend" indi.
BTW i m newbie here in forum, trying to read about various systems & crawling thread to thread.
I downloaded yur indi & every day watching on the pairs EU/GU/AU/EJ/UJ On lower time frame to higher time frame. Even somebody commented @Gold, so watching Gold too.
But as on lower time frame i see some confusion, it too happens on Higher TF.
Just attaching snap of "GBP/USD" of 15 minutes TF.
Will be thankful if u provide some entry/exit rules....or u may lead me to some link as i can have some stuff to learn?
Sorry if i hav attached image without your(moderator's) prior permission.

Hi,

Sorry, I cannot teach you how to trade. There is a lot more to it that following simple entry and exit rules. If it was that easy, every one would be doing it. Perhaps you could look at the higher timeframes and try to trade with the higher timeframe trend. Picking tops and bottoms is generally considered more difficult than trading with the trend. Also, losses are an inevitable part of trading.

If you do not have the basics, go to baby pips and take their course:
http://www.babypips.com/school

Then study some of the more successful trading threads here and try emulate what the profitable traders there are doing. Ex:
Trading made simple: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=291622
Sonic R System: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=114792

Take a deeper into trade/risk management. I don't know if there are any threads dedicated to that here. Take a look in the Trading discussion forum. One can find books on trading and gambling that cover such topics.

Good luck.

Respected Xaphod,
Thanks for yur quick reply as well as the link you directed.I am reading both you suggested as well as FerruFx's suggested too.
Regarding "How to trade here" in previous attached image my question is:
1)The candle turned RED
2)The MTF Tapes turned RED(Both Tape M15/H1)
Presuming above two point one is going to short---But the Trend Goes UP
This is not happening on only LOWER TF but on HIGHER TF too.
I am aware loss is part of trade, Even i am aware you have coded the best--decision is upto trader.
But i am asking for any better set up in such scenario as you being experienced.veteran trader as well as coder?
Sorry if any way i did hurt you.( I have gone through your website too)
~Thanks & Regards

If the indicators signal red and you can see that the trend is going up, you should obviously not enter a short trade. It is the discretion that a trader has to applies to filter out bad signals.

It is pretty clear here why the indicator turns red. It changes direction when a candle closes above respective below the calculated level. The indicator does not predict the future so it does not know what the next candle will do. It is based on moving averages of candle data and will therefore lag behind the current price. How much depend on the moving average periods.

I am not hurt. You have to use your discretion, analysis and experience to filter out which trades to take and which trades not to take. There is no easy way to avoid that.

Why do you think it is enough to use 2 timeframes. What about the H4? and the D1?. Perhaps there was news at that time that affected the price. Or a market open. Or a big player decided to open a trade. Or a government decided to manipulate their currency. Or the price hit a support level. And so on. The indicator does not know any of that. It is your responsibility to acquire, digest and use that info.

Trading practically any indicator mechanically from signal to signal will almost always lead to a loss. It may work for shorter periods but in the long term it will come out negative.

Well said Xaphod. Hanuraj, there are just so many possibilities. S/R lines, news, etc. And yes, H4 and higher time frames are equally important. So far, I've mainly been using quite a lot of Xaphod's indicators. And I'm still studying the realtime reactions of multiple timeframes for months now. It's not easy as the indicators don't tell the future. Of course, the only almost sure way is insider information - which I'm sure a select few of the folks in the financial stratosphere region have some prior knowledge of. Second best would be reading good finance news articles and sites.

And ps: don't bother with the modified version of the trend re-coded by someone else as the Dashboard version. It completely repaints entire columns even on its own timeframe. Don't suppose Xaphod would be up to making a multi-currency version of SuperTrend

I am aware that indi is following the rules as it is coded to follow. One more thing would like to share--well this is off the thread content :One of my friend told me to choose any single pair & to watch all time frames(M1/M5/M15/M30/H1/H4/D/W/M) applying EMA 50/100/200 with SMA 200--to see the price behavior that while falling down the prices/candles how it touches to different moving averages. (with addition 300EMA more useful)So now a days i m watching it to. For the purpose i have got FerruFx's "FFX Moving Average" indi which shows all Time Frames..on lower chart(sub chart). But it allows only two moving averages. Is there any such indi where we can add up to 5 moving averages? Or is there any indicator which shows all time frames in "Main Charting Window" instead of "Sub Window"? with facilitation of adding least 5 moving averages. My request to you is that as you being experienced may the better vision than me.(Or any new thread started on this topic will be more helpful)~Thanks & regards~hanuraj

Use the xSuperTrend Alert.ex4 for alerts. Yes it is an extra indicator, however it is very light on resource usage and should have no noticeable effect on your resource usage.

It should work anyway if you installed all the indicators to the correct folder. Metaquotes changed the file structure so the indicator check does not work. Turn off dll imports for the indicator and you will not get that error msg.

I'll get round to updating them when metaquotes releases a stable version of MT4. Also, current versions of MT4 appear to lack any form of exception handling which makes writing MTF indictors and using iCustom a bit of a pain. Ie MT4 crashes often. It appears they have removed the built in exception handling the old version had and there is no exception handling in the new language.

I just tried to make a version of the alerts indicator for build 600+ and MT4 reloads new copies of the iCustom indicator on every tick, leading to MT4 eating up all the memory in the computer and causing everything to crash. It is ridiculous.

Better than what? Well, just better than one indicator that was being used on some threads here on ff that was not very well written. There are probably others out there that are fine. There are also other 'supertrend' indicators that are based on different formulas. Supertrend Formula Copyright ŠUnknown. Someone on the Internets. Supertrend Formula: UpperLevel=(High+Low)/2+Multiplier*Atr(Period); LowerLevel=(High+Low)/2-Multiplier*Atr(Period); Current Time-frame version Do not repaint closed bars. Normal MT4 indicator performance. Ie. only redraws...

The alert indicator does not display anything on the chart. It just alerts when there is an alert signal.

Troubleshooting:
Check the 'Journal' and 'Expert' tabs in the terminal window for errors.
