Hi to all.
I use xSuperTrend indicator and want to use alert when color changes, but...
"xSuperTrend Alerts: Error! ..\experts\indicators\xSuperTrend.ex4 cannot be found."... I receive this message.

Build 765. The path to indicator is \mql4\indicators\xSuperTrend.ex4
How can I fix this error? I have only .ex4 file.
Can anyone fix this problem please!!!

Great thread guys,

I've been working on a trend indicator of my own, with very similar inputs. This thread has given me some great ideas.

Green pips to all

Sorry,

I'm still working on the excel formula. I look forward to a response.

Does anyone use this indicator alone, or with others to support it? If so, would you mind telling me which one.

Thanks

Had this problem on several brokers after the automatic update. Solved by re-downloading the MT4 from the respective broker and re-installing. (thanks to posting in another forum)

If I put xSuperTrend Tape MTF with period 240 on an H1 chart, does that mean last 4 bars (4x60 = 240) on indicator window will continue to repaint until the H4 candle closes or just the latest bar?? Basically right now I want to know when the latest H4 tape bar on an H1 chart has confirmed and will not repaint. How can I know this? I know the xSuperTrend alerter has an option that notifies you when candle is closed but how can I know this visually by looking at an H4 supertrend tape on an H1 chart?
Good enough is enemy of the best.

From the first post:
"All bars on the chart associated with a higher time-frame bar that is open will continue to update with the current status of the higher time-frame supertrend until that bar closes."

The H4 bar closes 6 times every in every 24 hour cycle so it is pretty easy to tell if and when the bar closed: 0,4,8,12,16,20. (Add your broker offset if it is not GMT.)

On one of my other threads, I have posted a TF-Slicer indicator. One can use that to show the bar closes/openings.

Hi Xaphod,

Was trying out your xsupertrend dashboard version, and it repaints. Computer recorded it's behaviour over a 24 hour period. This happens regardless of timeframe. It can be set to even M1. The first pic was taken at 15.40. The second one at 15.41. Notice how the red has repainted. And this is on a life running chart. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi,

Sorry to be hard on you but after a 24hr test, all you can show me are 2 tiny bits of a chart. I'm not a magician. Please post a detailed description of this 24 hour test with full screen shots, and with a reference xsupertrend indicator on the chart with the same settings as the dashboard. And a link to the actual indicator you are using.

Sorry. sir. I missed your post. As I already have a backlog of stuff to do, like making proper updates for these indicators for build 600, I'm afraid I cannot help you at this time.

Hi Xaphod,

hope you are well.

The supertrend indi is still a crucial part of my system.

I remain indebted to you for your fine programming.

All the best,

Marty

Hello Xaphod,

I have captured over a 140 images snapped at 15 minute intervals. I don't believe you'd want me to put them all up? I'm going to stitch together the sections, let you know the time they were taken, and then perhaps you can advice me. And Martyfish, I too remain indebted to Xaphod's programming. Highlighting an issue, and not swallowing everything hook, line and sinker, is what I am trying to do here. It is not my intention to nitpick on his wonderful work, but simply to get feedback on what is likely a problem or mistake on my part.

Give me a couple of minutes to stick them together. Thanks.

Are you implying it repaints in all the 140 images?

I need to see full screen shots, not stitched together bits.

If the problem is due to a mistake on your part, how did you expect me to deduce it from 2 tiny sections of 2 tape charts with no references what so ever.

You will also have to assure me you are not using a modified indicator. Yes, I have spent many hours looking for problems that were due to modifications made to indicators that were unknown to me.

Edit: Also, I would like to know which MT4 version you are using for the tests.

Hi there Marty,

I'm fine, thanks. Glad to hear your system is still going strong. Ultimately, it is more a testament to your trading skill than the indicators. It nice to see you still drop by here on occasion.

All the best to you too!
Xaphod

The indicator appears to work fine when it is used alone in the chart (as in not more than 3-4 instances of itself running on the same chart), like the pic I posted. Could be the reason? I typed in the time info for your reference. This is not a mod indicator. Anyway, just FYI. You don't need to work on it. Cheers.

  1. If you are using indicators for different symbols on a chart, they will only update when the pair for the chart they are on updates. MT4 data is tick driven and charts only update when they receive data meant for them.
  2. If you are using indicators for different symbols on a chart, make sure you have charts opened for the symbols and timeframes in question. I don't know if MT4 behaves correctly if there is no chart open to receive ticks. No chart, no ticks? Its behavior in this matter may also vary depending on which version you are using.
  3. Doing backtesting with multi-timeframe, multi pair data is not supported natively by MT4. Your results from such testing will likely be flawed.
