Not backtesting. Forward testing. This was taken in realtime over the last day and a half on the AUD M15 chart. Just some background (not a horn blowing session). I'm crazy OCD when it comes to this, which is why I did regional technical software support for one of the very best tech firm for 25 years. I'm NOT a programmer. But am very good at isolating sections to get to the bottom of an error. Anyway like I said, everything is as I have told you. Signals coming in loud and clear on my fibre network. I'll just not use it in this manner. Cheers and have a nice day.

Sorry, I do not recognize the indicator you are referring to. The only xSupertrend Tape_Dashboard I know of is a modified indicator posted by Rooi here and it draws below the chart. Your screenshots show an indicator that draws in the chart.

It is not drawing in the chart. I have blacked out the chart lines and pushed the indicator window all the way up. That is how I have arranged my window.

I did not mean to say you were doing backtesting. I was pointing out various problems one can encounter when working with multiple pairs on the same chart. Which should be of interest to you. What ever.

We have not even established which indicator you are actually using, which is pretty much the first step to diagnosing and fixing a problem.

I cannot diagnose and fix problems based on tiny sections of screenshots. There simply isn't enough information there.

Refer to your post #117. That's the basic. I believe you only made it so that it will compile for build 600+. Anyway, lets leave it at that. Too much hostility. Cheers.

It is an indicator the has been modified by someone else. I don't know exactly what has been done to it. I have given you the reason for the so called 'repaints'.

You are running the indicators in a situation where they are updated irregularly and you have removed the time reference on the bottom of the chart making it impossible to compare charts time wise, thereby making it impossible to determine if an indicator is repainting. The indicator only counts the number of new bars on the chart and not on the target pair (someone else's modification), leading to errors in the chart that are exacerbated by the irregular updates.

Xaphod, I have just found this indicator of yours. I believe it is very convenient, especially when more pairs are shown in the same chart. Thanks a lot for your work.
There is a minor improvement I would make. It's aesthetical rather than functional: the symbol name is hard to read, as it is too small, and the colour too pale. I have tried to make some changes by myself, but I am a newbie here (I have been programming in EasyLanguage for years, but no mql at all) and not skilled yet. I wonder if you can add these parameters, so that I can also learn some more mql programming.
Really thanks,

This is an indicator than has been modified by someone else and is defective. From the discussion just above your post, you can see it is not reliable so I would advice against using it.

I don't think the indicator has any built in procedures to display symbol data. It relies on whatever MT4 provides by default. If you want something else you will have to add it. See this post for example.
http://forum.mql4.com/7932
There are probably newer more complicated functions to use in the 600+ build now but the above method should still work.

Hello,

I am looking for an EA for Metatrader 5 that sets a trailing stop based on the indicator "Supertrend" (https://www.mql5.com/en/code/576). The stop should be a little higher (when selling) or lower (when buying) than the supertrend line and move with that supertrend line of course (because it should be a trailing stop). The space between the supertrend line and the actual trailing stop should be adjustable in pips. The parameters of the supertrend indicator should also be adjustable within the EA. If the supertrend line switches its color during an open position this position should be closed or there should be a notification that there has been a color switch and the stop should remain where it was before. These two options should be selectable.

I have found an article describing how to program Trailing Stop EAs based on indicators here: https://www.mql5.com/en/articles/134

A lot of code plus a downloadable sample is already included in the article. It only needs to be based on the Supertrend indicator instead of the SAR or NRTR indicator which is used in the article.

Could someone program such an EA or change the sample that is provided by the article so it works based on Supertrend?

Thanks in advance,

All the best.

Hello Xaphod,
I tried compiling your supertrend alert indi but I got 60 errors and 6 warnings. I'm on build 950. Could you please update it and also add push notifications to it? The xSuperTrend-Tape that I got off your website (originally) is a real gem! It would be great to get push notifications when I'm away and pop ups when I'm at the screens.
Also something you might want to know, your website it generating a warning message through my Malwarebytes security. I'll post a screenshot of that. I would of preferred to send you a private message but looks like you have that turned off...

Thank You,
SatchFan

Hello SatchFan,

I'll take a look at it this weekend if I get time.

Thanks for the headsup on the website. I cannot find anything wrong with it. It appears that malwarebytes likes to mark perfectly good websites as malware sites:

I got 3 files from your website and got the alert from this forum.
I could not get the alert to work as it keep pointing to \expert\indicator folder for the xSuperTrend as was the case before mt4 build 600.
I will appreciate if you will find time to update the alert file.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks

Hi Swazy,
The problem is the same I think,
I downloaded your both mq4 and ex4 files for xSuperTrend-Candles.ex4 & mq4... Put both of them in mt4-->data folder-->mq4-->indicators

but when I try to insert the indicator it does show but in grey color...
can't insert it!
I am having MetaTrader 4 build 988
