{quote} hello emmanuel, see how the market will consolidate seen after but rarely before ... On what element do you determine consolidation? {image}
Ignored

Hi thomi,

It is not possible to see ahead in time when the market will consolidate. The market moves in waves, just like we see trends in different timeframes, we also see
price corrections, price pullbacks, etc. in different timeframes too. There are different technical analysis methods which help identify potential support and resistance where market can pause after a strong trending move. When we observe closely the various market session opening and closing, market tends to pause or pullback as buyers/sellers exit their positions. Therefore when we trade intraday using H1 timeframe for example, we need to pay attention to certain market session closing like Tokyo close and London close hours.
For my 4H swing trading, I stick to using historical price swing levels to look at the price action when it approaches the historical swing levels. Usually where there is confluence of other support and reistance like pivots, fibo levels and RN, the confleuence regions can be potential areas where market will pause.

Using your EURUSD chart as example, I did a quick post mortem and highlighting where those historical price swing levels are and look at the recent price action. See attached pdf.

Hope this help explain what I do for my 4H swing trading.

I tried the DOTS Guppy method, but couldn't stay with it when the private room was opened. I wish there was a thread for it here on FF so we could work with it together.

Hi olly93,

After last Friday ' s NFP turbulence, and today's holidays in Japan and the UK, I rather stand aside and let the market work itself out first.

My view on AUD pairs including XAU (note my charts are GMT0 ) and only looking for 4H swing trades.

Hi Gonzaga,

a very old way of trading when for example three moving averages cross at the same instant.
here we see the TDI PL cross TSL and cross MBL at the same time. And also the Stoch cross at the same time.

some reading here:

Hmmm interesting. thanks for your explanation

According to that setup seems a valid entry for that. Although we are very close to resistance area and double top as you marked on your chart right?

Yes, EURAUD is in narrow range as it approach the psych level 1.5000.
The risk in trading just by looking at indicators like the TDI cross and not paying attention to Price Action and where the Support and Resistance on our charts will result in lower winrate. I said many times, we look for A+++ trade setups using PA and S&R.
