Britain's economic recovery may be at risk if sterling strengthens much further, the Bank of England said on Thursday, in its first significant hint of concern about the British currency's recent rise.

The central bank's Monetary Policy Committee said the 2 percent appreciation in sterling over the previous month reflected a stronger economic outlook, but that greater strength could jeopardise British exports.

"Any further substantial appreciation of sterling would pose additional risks to the balance of demand growth and to the recovery," the MPC said in minutes of its December 4-5 meeting.

Sterling is near a five-year high against other currencies, and the central bank said that for Britain's "burgeoning" economic recovery to be sustainable, it needs to rely more on business investment and exports and less on consumer demand.

The nine-member MPC was unanimous in voting to keep interest rates on hold at 0.5 percent and to leave the central bank's 375 billion pound stock of bond purchases untouched."

That is my belief that market makers know everything they need to know on time to run their business ...Well I was lucky that USDCHF went up first and GBPUSD went down first so I took some pips and exited before move on opposite direction.

I would not be shorting here. We bounced last night off of some significant resistance (I posted a chart yesterday and Jimmy posted a similar chart today) and now with this move up after Taper?

The trend is up, folks. Like it or not.

Meanwhile the Fed keeps sending 75B/month up in smoke for around 1percent GDP growth.

i wish you well on your short but in my opinion, listening to and making trading decisions based on the chatter of talking heads selectively published in here is fraught with danger.

Looks like I was sorta right, for the wrong reasons.

They did Taper, more than I thought, the USD did gain sudden strength, and then the fine print came out and for whatever reason, the USD lost it's strength and now we are moving again.

Forex really sucks sometimes.

1) It sucks today for those who got in going the wrong direction.
2) It sucks for guys like me who stayed out, but had we followed our own advice, would have made quite a bit of money, but missed the move.

Don't worry, it's possible there is quite a bit of move left.
I got in this morning at around 6260 or something and closed it out before the GBP news
So just left with my longs from the 2/12.
it has been fun shorting rallies down to the 38.2 fib/4hr 200ema/breakout retest point though.
