Two accounts = too easy

open the settings for each, side by side, compare to find what is different

Re - install MT4 ? Should be on C: drive & NOT under Programs

Re - boot computer

Copy a template of the charts that are OK, to the folder of the other MT4 ?

Is it working yet?

Sorry if this has been answered before - i cant find anything.

Is there any way navigate to a specific data/time on a chart - either through EA or script

I know i can use the fast navigation bar but i wanted to do it from a script/ea that takes its navigation instructions from elsewhere (that bit is easy) - not from the keyboard

The only way i can think is to stuff keys using the windows API's but it seems overkill and has issues with grabbing focus that i don't like

Moving directly to a certain date/time

To re-position immediately to a certain date,

press Enter,

then type in the date in the form DD.MM.YY and

press Enter again.

Leading zeros can be omitted (e.g. to move to 4 July 2012, type 4.7.12)

To re-position to a certain date/time, use the format HH:MM or DD.MM.YY HH:MM (e.g. to position to 8:07am TODAY on a 1-min chart, simply type 8:7)

You can also use the "Fast Navigation Box" to change either the currency symbol, or the period, thus:

Code:

1. time (hours:minutes) example: 08:30; 8:30;

2. date example: 2004.10.16; 16.10.2004; 16.10.04;

3. date and time example: 2004.10.16 8:30; 16.10.2004 8:30; 16.10.04 8:30;

4. symbol example: GBPUSD; EURUSD;

5. chart period example: M1; M5; M15; M30; H1; H4; D1; W1; MN;

6. symbol, chart period example: GBPUSD, M30; EURUSD, D1;

Many thanks for the comprehensive reply - but unfortunately it missed the main point of the question:

In case you are wondering why - my intention is to use a small slave chart on low TF (say M1) that shows the highlighted area of a larger TF (say H1) - like a magnifying glass. When i highlight a different H1 area on the MASTER chart - the magnified M1 on the SLAVE chart will automatically follow

I love this idea and have wanted this feature myself. I may have found a possible solution for you, or at least a script with the basis of a solution, however, it seems to have some problems when I try to use it.

The script "ScrollToDate.mq4" was generously shared by zznbrm here.

It's method of use is described here.

I posted in zznbrm's thread a report of some problems I'm having using it here.

I ended up with something that works - like you i took it from an existing script that did not work (or at least it did not seem to work) as intended

The underlying chart manipulation mechanism does seem to work though (it posts windows messages to the windows GUI components so its not as fragile as a key stuffer) - i can position a chart directly. It is currently a script - you run it either as a master or slave - but being a script it is not tolerant to TF changes on master or slave(s)

I intend to implement something something simple - as an indicator - so it can co-exist with other indicators and/or EA. When i do, i will post it here for others to use

My EVENTUAL target is to allow editing of chart features on one chart and allow synchronised manipulation of the same chart features on the zoomed in chart (in this case it is accurately determination of the source of supply on demand on lower TF - after identifying them approximately on higher TF) - but that is another story

I am looking for a function that can tell me the color of the chart background. I'm absolutely certain this is possible because at least one indicator I know of does it (pipware-charts by Stratman), though the source code is not public. (The indicator does import DLL's so it might be an external function).

After detecting the background color, the indicator sets some of the indicator buffers to use the same color as the background, and that is exactly what I'm wanting to do.

Thanks in advance for any help.

maybe just windowscreenshot, then read the gif file. sample the colours to find the background or at least around the top left corner. reading the gif is probably a pita unless you've done this kind of thing before.

edit : derpy dumb answer.... most likely they are just grabbing the screen and finding the colours that way.

I am using this code snippet:

zznbrm pointed me to the code snippet.
It works well in my EAs and indicators.

today i entered trade via android, planing to enter at market audjpy and before I pressed buy or sell, I was already short ! I had to exit the trade as I was planning to go long. Gone $60.

Then I repeated procedure and finally got to my buy/sell button, press buy and position was doubled as long !!

Anyone experienced same problem? Use standard android app for mt4.

i dont trust this thing any more

I try to manage 2 things in my MT4.
Appreciate any help regarding the 2 points.
At that time I don't know if this is the right Thread to discuss these 2 things.
So I will also open a new Thread here in the Platform-Tech-Forum.

1.The Stochastic-Indicator (Standard MT4) should show the CLOSE of the last Candle and the Candle before .So that the CLOSE of the last 2 Candles are visible in the Indicator-window.

2.I would like to duplicate the MT4-TOOLBAR-Features (Line Studies,Periodicity,Charts ) for every Chart I have opened (and I have 6 Charts with 3 Monitors ).So it's obvious that it takes sometimes too much time to move form here to there and back and forth and so on.

Every idea is much appreciated.
Thanks .
Greeds Zack
