MT4 download

Hello all,

I am currently using MT 4 but it is affiliated with a broker.

Is it possible to download and use MT4 without signing up with a broker? ie) just using MT4 for analysis only.

I have downloaded MT4 free download but it is asking me to register with a broker which i dont want to do.

Could someone please shed some light for me please?

Kind Regards

Hi,

It used to be possible to download MT4 direct from MetaQuotes (the Russian company that developed MT4), but it seems that that's no longer possible. When I visited their site, any attempt to download MT4 is apparently makes the assumption that I want to operate as a br0kerage.

You might be able to find a br0ker on this list that allows you to download MT4 without registering with them. But I guess that's unlikely, as br0kers are keen to get as many potential traders onto their books, for obvious reasons.

You could create a dummy yahoo e-mail account, and then go through the MT4 br0ker registration process, giving a pseudonym and citing the dummy e-mail (if you feel ethically comfortable doing so). In that way, you could obtain the MT4 setup file for you to run. MT4 will ask you for your name/address/phone/e-mail/etc details immediately you attempt to create a demo account; what you type into these account setup fields is entirely your choice.

For better or worse, if you want the live data feed, MT4 requires that you at least open a demo account. I don't think there's any way to get around that.

Seems to me a big step towards the answer may be here. If not, you can further explore some of the links in that post, and you could google further for discussions about the file "symbols.raw" (found under <your_MT4>/history/<your_server>/symbols.raw ). That is the binary file that contains the list of symbols used by MT4.

Is there any way you can change say 10 small sized windows inside an established profile at once, rather than typing in eurusd 10 times pressing space bar and entering eurusd in the white box on the bottom left hand corner box? Not sure if this is called a auto hotkey?

I'm guessing you want to change all charts within a profile to the same pair?

I have seen a script to change all charts to the same template, and also a script to change all charts to the same time frame, so I imagine that is possible

But failing that, you only have to do it once for each pair, then save as new profile

Can't help with the coding - but if you have the market watch window open, you can save a lot of time by simply draging the required pair onto an open chart.

I expect that you get a script or something to do this though.

Not sure what do you want. But auto hotkey is a program outside MT4.

Hello,

I think that a healty trading sistem needs to have it's audit process (daily/we/mo/qu/ye) so that you know what has to be changed, improved fine tuned ...so here is my problem:
I searched but failed to find a mt4 EA/Indicator that takes a screenshot of the platform(or selected charts maybe) in the moment a trade is placed and saves that screenshot in a folder that has the name of the trade number....and maybe every time the sl is moved ..or tp ..AND another screenshot when the trade is closed.

This way...when you review your trades you are able to see exactly what you saw when you took the trade .I know the chart is still avalible but after the fact you can be influenced ...or get subjective ...etc.
I know it can be done manualy .and maybe i'm lazy ..but i think it saves some time ...time that you can alocate to something more important.

Is there a way this kind of script can be created ..or where could i find the tools necesarry to create it?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this post and i wish you the best of luck with yout trading!

This thread used to be a sticky. The first post answers a lot of questions that have been asked recently, so I'll give it a bump.

Hello people,
Need help with my MT4 platform. Using Oanda but everytime I try to download their MT4 platform it fails 'configuring'. So though MT4 is dowloaded onto my laptop, I cannot access it. Frustrating. Please see screen shot. Thanks in advance for helping me out.

MT4 navigational tips and techniques (NEW MATERIAL IN RED TYPEFACE) Hi all The following post used to be a sticky in the MetaTrader forum, but it appears to have been lost. Hence I'm re-posting it here. Use of the mouse and mousewheel, and their keyboard equivalents Scrolling the chart Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse in the main chart area, to scroll left/right. Or you can also simply roll the mousewheel down/up, or use the left/right arrow keys, to likewise scroll the chart view left/right. To scroll a whole screen at a time,...

Check out "P4L CandleTime.mq4", which displays the remaining bar time next to the most recent bar. (It is another variation of b-clock). The text moves up and down to stay close to the current price.

Also check out "P4L Clock.mq4", which can display remaining bar time, broker time, local time, and current market times for various world markets. It properly accounts for changes to Daylight Savings Time, unlike several other older clock indicators. The indy allows you to choose what time(s) you want it to display, which by default, shows in the lower-left corner but you can change that too.

Both are in thread, "New very cool CandleTime and session time Clock indicators". Each of these have been downloaded ~5000+ times, so they are widely used.
