What the "go short" idiots do not understand is that SNB will lose all credibility not only to the world but much much worse to the export companies within Switzerland. There is no way in hell they will let it fall lower than they did today, especially as long s they are so adamant in their announcements. Do you shorties really think they'd f*ck up the export companies within Switzerland. I guarantee you that will not happen.
Not to mention the political mandate to defend the floor, when it has to be as low as it is. As far as I remember the SNB does work or act for Switzerland.

all right,

This thread members kinda reminded me of USDJPY thread,
Like The BOJ,Japan Gov dont allowed this and that level,the export suffered blah blah blah...some members angry because they keep long with "Hope" the central bank would step In and guess what ? the price keep falling for 3 year over...and now the USDJPY keep climbing and members busy looking for short but it still climb and climb...lolz...and again come another BS that said dont compare SNB and BOJ...Its not about Fed,BOJ,ECB or SNB...its about market!

Very well said. The political mandate is not to forget, although SNB acts independent it also has a purpose to serve, the political mandate lines out the generalities as "guide lines", the SNB acts in detail on it's own fulfilling the mandate.

I assume you are not a european citizen. May i remind you the BOJ has not given out a official ceiling they will defend. You are comparing apples with oranges.

Besides, trading this short as long it is above 1.20 has been good technical trading most of the times.

You let me know when you go short now, i will take the other side of your trade.

Lolz..its ok,you dont need listen what i said ya and you can keep long
even its going up,so what ? am risk 1% for short and I would never worried anything,am here for longterm

The difference between JPY and CHF is that CHF is more dependent on a single currency -- euro. While for the JPY you should look not only to its rate against USD but also EUR and others. Moreover, Switzerland is a small country more dependent on exports, so strenghtening of franc may hurt its economy more.

Generally I trust in SNB and its commitment do not tolerate trades below 1,2000. It is not wise to short EUR/CHF at this moment.

There were some barriers at 1.2025 that got hit. Traders had to sell their delta hedges because of that. In addition, given that so many dealers/hedge fund managers were on their Easter Breaks, the market simply got caught off guard.

I think even Thomas J Jordan and the senior folks at SNB are somewhere skiing at the Alps. If u follow the news, SNB Spokesperson had NO comments when EURCHF touched 1.199. Just 10 minutes afterwards, the spokesperson replied with the usual words of buying EURCHF in unlimited quantities. I believe he made a phone call to Thomas over the 10 minutes, whom probably instructed him to say those words.

Currently, 1.2020 is a good support. At the same time, I wouldn't expect a BIG actual intervention, but some sort of verbal and light intervention to move the market higher to around 1.2080/1.2100.

market could move down below floor for few hours but SNB will bring it back to floor at any cost.. long is safe as long as margin well managed. going short is suicide
