Doesn't anyone else think that even if the Euro drops, there will be statements made to calm us villagers from panic to stem the tide of any bearish movements?

If it drops, there will be some IMF statement or PM out there saying they will do everything in their power to keep further disasters...blah blah blah

They seem to have as much endless bs to regurgitate as the US does to print fake dollars.

Subtle move, so directional even by the standards of USD/JPY

All the jawboning from Japan, to no effect.
Then this morning with US core retails USD got sold

Then the sudden strength in USD.

May be all the market. May be not

Do not think they will do the boom boom routine as it is very expensive.
But to stabilize USD/JPY Yes
That may explain this mornings PA in USD Index

politicians are meant to calm down people at times at crisis, even though its built up on false pretense and false hope. what they suppose to do? lol...

Lagarde: "euro zone is f@#! and we must put greece out of the equation, spain, and italy too, and we cannot find a solution for 1+ years."

at least we fx traders know what to expect most of the time

I think we cannot blame them after all. They attempt to make the markets steady and to minimize the amount of sharp dramatic moves, aka ensure price stability. The fact that they use poor measures (aka keep kicking the can down the road) makes them look funny, but when one asks himself "how would I tackle the problem?" then most have no response... maybe excluding our fundie masterminds But they don't seem to be eager to take Bennys or Trichet jobs, so basically the world is doomed.


ADD: Hmm after short consideration, maybe being central banker / politician means sitting in such a deep... (you know), so that anyone competent enough doesn't want to do it, and therefore we get only those, who are dumb enough to think it is simple? Nice theory, isn't it ?

No numbers agreed. They went to lunch I assume....

We've now had a statement from the 27 EU heads of government following today's meeting. The leaders talk of a "common resolve to do their utmost to overcome the crisis and to help face in a spirit of solidarity the challenges confronting the European Union and the Euro area".

LOL And tax payers are paying their salaries...

The irony is they say it to keep their pensions and entitlements that in affect put most countries in the situation we are all in.

Sucks their words can still move markets though...so until that ends, you gotta play fundamentals big time.

Remember, everyone trades different.

If you are trading large position size on this 50:1 US leverage trying to "rescue" a trade can be a very quick trip to a margin call.

I risk roughly 2% of my risk capitol on every trade. The margin requirement for holding this much E$ on just 1 trade takes up roughly 25% of my available margin equity.

Try throwing a few rescue trades on a bad trade like that without stops and see how long your account lasts when margin calls start closing out your worst losers first.

Yep.

Politicians have the power to move markets because we voters got conned into believing that they are the ones who hold our best interests at heart.

Unfortunately the ones who start out honest, end up just as corrupt or worse than the ones who nominated them and we voters lose again.

It's a culture in politics. If you're not a good conner, you don't get re-elected no matter how good your intentions.

But that's life and politics. Not much you or I can do about it. It would take a revolution to change things.

In short the resulution of summit was that thei'll tell banks to whne money from investors - if they cannot get any - countries will support and if country have no money to spend, theill get it from ESFS.

Only new thing is that ESFS money can be used to back up banks. French got their demands through and taxpayers will bail banks out of loans their govermets have taken to spend on taxpayers... whoah!

Edit: No one seems to be happy about this but markets don't react because this was expected.

It's worse than that. The Greek government will use borrow money from the EFSF to buy shares in banks that they owe money to because they couldn't pay them back what they already owed them.

So technically, if I owe VISA money and I cannot pay them, I can borrow from Mastercard to buy shares in Visa so when I don't pay them, they will at least have some cash that I gave them to give me the shares. :rolf:
Add: Ohh and then I can use my shares in Visa as collateral to secure the loan I get from Mastercard.
