Experience with FIX

Hi there,

I would like to hear from anyone - who has been involved in a project to use the FIX protocol to interface between a algorithmic trading engine and HotspotFXI or any other broker / ECN supporting the FIX standards.

I am trying to get an idea of the development / testing time involved and any possible hurdles that may be encountered along the way.

As far as the development time/testing time involved, it really depends on the project and the experience of the programmer. The tools don't exist to do backtesting/forward testing so you have to roll your own. Then you have to find or download data to test with. It also depends on what kind of trading system you want to build (long-term, short term, scalping or grid). Each type has different issues that you have to worry about.
