LONDON: Oil rose above US$83 (US$1 = RM3.42) a barrel yesterday and closed in on an all-time high as fund buying, spurred by a weak dollar, provided support.

US crude climbed 39 cents to US$83.27 by 1247 GMT, after gaining US$2.58, or 3.24 per cent, in the previous session.

Oil was recovering from a profit-taking dip earlier this week that knocked prices from a peak of US$83.90 hit on September 20.

London Brent crude surged to a record high of US$80.54, up 51 cents.

"The ever-weakening US dollar is probably the key driver of this, with non-commercial long interest being fuelled by the view that the US will sacrifice its currency to prop up growth," said a Citigroup research note.

The dollar hit an all-time low against a basket of currencies for the second consecutive day yesterday, pressured by worries about the health of the US economy and likelihood of more interest rate cuts.

"On a macro level people are clearly buying crude oil as a hedge against a weaker dollar. The crude market is structually very solid," said a hedge fund manager based in Asia.

The weak dollar, which can strengthen the nominal values of commodities traded in the currency, also boosted metals. - Reuters

I thought about share here because we tend to forget about that pairs and i know that you don't like corrections, and i also know that you would like to throw a mini lot to a trending pair, and keep trailing it until EU and GU resumed.

Today i'm seeing that not only i was right trying to avoid to help you being MORE PATIENT, but SeekingLight was right too about you being rude.

Fortunally i know that it was your loss talking, but that does it.

There is a difference between "i told ya so" after a ridiculous lucky call, and "i told ya so" after spoting a big technical error and alerting you about it... to be more conservative! Which is always good in trading.

SeekingLight might be a showboat but he sure knows well about trending or reversing. A guy at DailyFx sayed in one article, "shorting just because is "too high" is a ticket to go broke". I didn't invented this despite i know it for many time now.

I'm sorry if you didn't understood what i meant. I know i can make a little laugh in between but the real point was to make you register your error for you to never do it again.

And about ClockTrader is the same. Everyone knows what kind of feeling is that, and i thought it would be better for him to say it out loud and never repeat again.

Damn... another day i even asked for a tip from Bullrock to help me make the transistion to the daily chart, since i'm better in medium term moves, and i want to explore that.

I'm out of this thread... until i see a serious change in attitude around here.

In the other thread they are always joking with each other when they are in oposite directions. They say "i told you so" and the other guy normally laugh saying, "i will smash your money the next time"

GBPUSD broke on friday of the Daily chart triangle in the direction of the weekly chart's up-channel. I will seek for longs upon the first pullback.

I think it will retrace a bit then it will continue (despite the fact some people claim it is overbought. It could be overbought for the next 1000 pips )

in my overview, GU is gaining momentum to prepare for big drop... ultimate target is 1.9000, this is based on weekly chart.... good luck

LOL Kenari, I was just preparing to post about it here... Don't know if we share the same view on the reason-why for such a scenario, but here goes mine...

There is one nasty ugly fundamental scenario that I'm not ruling out for the next 4-6 weeks.

From UK
Let's say, BOE won't hike, as it is largely expected. As UK CPI is in a strong downtrend in the last 4 months, another reading around UK's 2% target is going to kill any hopes for further hikes for the next several months.

Not going to include some other subprime problem that could appear because I simply have no idea how bad it is in UK. Another subprime problem could just accelerate this scenario, via sparking expectations of a rate cut in UK.

From US
Let's say Fed don't cut rates on Oct, 31st, as last Poole's statements that "market shouldn't bake the cake right now" suggests. Although further cuts will be on the cards for next months, a no cut in October is likely to inspire some broad dollar short covering.

The rate statement is likely to reveal if this last 0.5bp cut was a surgical measure or part of a broader rate cut cycle initiating

Even a 25bp could be not enough for further dollar selloff, as this cut is being widely priced in acroos the board.

Technically
If this fundamental scenario kicks in, cable in the weekly chart could form an ABC setup (0650 - 9650 - 0450(???actual to confirm). And the target of a selloff in this case ranges between 1,000 to 2,000 pips from this next top in formation. If C is 0450, target will be from 1.94 to 1.84, depending on further developments, of course. So 1.9000 is not that crazy at all a target.

**Again - THIS IS A SCENARIO - I'm not saying that THIS WILL HAPPEN... And I'm not going to jump into discussions on what are BOE and Fed going to do in anticipation. Those CBs are run by gentlemen that doesn't give a damn about making consistent statements to help us here. King can even make a consistent statement just to do otherwise in the following morning, as proven recently.**

This scenario would be denied on breach of last top 0650, opening an avenue to the upper trendline in the weekly channel, as mentioned here before.

On my side, I still have unfinished business with euro (Don't even think about it Warper!!! LOLLL).

On cable I'm not confortable with going big expecting too much from the upside, so I'm going very cautious in this pair in the next weeks....

Hi everyone,
there are 2 scenarios from here:
eur/usd finishing 3rd wave in the short term cycle - the wave has to finish at friday around 1.4340.In this case I expect little correction til 1.4020 and the start of 5th wave which will go all the way til 1.45
Second scenario - eurusd is finishing 5th wave from the short term cycle and 3 wave from middle term - the biggest and strongest wave from the middle term cycle.This will start a correction towards 1.30/1.31/1.32/1.33 ..I can't tell u right now,have to see first the vola and the movements of the price to build a scenario based on calculations.

First scenario - Friday is the day of "non-farm employment" which is expected to be good.That's the + for the first scenario.
Second scenario - 5th wave is my favourite as I expected this move and everything is perfect til now.This month I expect good news from USA and this is the major + for the second scenario.We are also exactly at a very strong trend-line at monthly chart.

Oh of course. The higher it goes the higher is the probability for a fall... The question is , as always, how high it will go before a drop.

we can carry on the competition by just comparing our monthly performance by the end of month, I shall however keep updating my signature, of course after sharing photos, but perhaps on fortnight or monthly basis.

Its a heck to share photo on daily/weekly basis as positions float all the time and P/L is like a roller coaster.

Past Performance Sharing on Monthly basis sounds ideal to me.
