DXY is made of 11% GBP and 57% Euro. And a news event like UK CPI directy affects GBP and Euro, so roughly about 68% of the DXY. A big move caused by UK or EU news is very very likely to make it's presence felt in DXY as well.

No doubt it will affect GBP more, but saying it won't affect DXY at all is also not completely true.

And for a matter fact, UK CPI indeed directly affected DXY. Just look at how DXY started trending up after the CPI release: (Orange line is the UK CPI h1 bar)

Gartley suggests that the USDX on the Daily chart is heading southward, but the reversal could be deadly, so I should prepare
Perhaps the H1 chart is indeed heading downward temporarily for a few points.

The dollar-yen 4-hour chart is rising with a target of 157 yen due to strong dollar buying from New York last night. However, the TDI-Band has become rigid and there is a possibility of a repeat of NY on the 14th. We expect the price to fall at least in the most recent period, and even if it rebounds and rises after that, we think it will be easier to fall at the W top. It is important to pay attention to the price movements in NY tonight and not to simply buy the dollar.

G/M, a bullish-bodied hammer/pinbar close y/day on the dly t/f. So far today a quick false 1st upside b/o of the Asian hi on that last spurt up, Asian lo remains the current dly lo. 1hr is rangy right now. 4hr general uptrend still intact.

Uk data forthcoming @ 0830am GMT. Will they come in in above forecasts?
