yes, One should look at the price around 9 pm est on sunday and 9 am est on Monday for a possible set up.

The opening spread noice ( upto 16 pips in GU ) is done at that time.

you have this great tool at your fingertips...called a chart....so scroll backwards to previous years christmases and look at the candles and volume for the day, week and month

Of course neither Christmas nor any other holiday slows down the Forex market. Tradition, custom, family mean nothing to the traders of the Forex market. It is money, greed, adrenaline, and ego that rule all and keep the Forex traders ever at their charts and the Forex market always "on".

The FF noise doesn't or posts on FF don't necessarily represent the majority of the opinions. Makes it a little challenging to figure out who to go against...

Not neccesarily. Year end profit taking by the big boyz can see hundreds of pips.

If you really think it was a dumb question, you could've ignored it. Instead of showing off how deeply you can think, I am new to this market, so I do not know all the loopholes you know about.

Forex knows only Monday to Friday.
For some location it starts on Sunday
It is the person who should know when to close chart and take a break.
More time in the market, does not mean you trade better!

I abandoned trading GBP/USD and shifted to XAUUSD because GBP/USD gave me a huge loss of -$300, 2 months back.

Now, I have learned the following things:
1. Liquidity
2. How to tackle consolidation
3. Confirmation
4. Higher the Timeframe is, the more the accuracy is (using M30 & H1)

By Monday morning, I'll be trying to trade GBP/USD again along with XAUUSD. Might be trying GBP/CHF or GBP/JPY.

Almost. Forex markets know when markets are open or closed. Traders either show up of they don't. Last Friday afternoon (US Black Friday) was a great example of the markets being open and traders simply not showing up to trade.
The day of Christmas eve (since Christmas is on a Monday, the Friday before) and the day of New Years Eve are probably going to behave similarly. Beyond that, who knows?
