I hope you've had a profitable week, welcome to our regular ForexFactory update, today we have a very special update to talk about.

On Wednesday, 7 June 2023, ERBN.f will roll to the new future expiry. In order to facilitate the process and protect the accounts from possible liquidity shortages and temporary price spikes, regardless of the account stage (FTMO Challenge, Verification, or FTMO Account) or the account type (Normal, Swing), traders are required to close their positions on the affected symbol before 9:00 am of the relevant day above. Trading will be enabled again at 10:05 am on the same day. Eventual positions left open after 9:00 am will be closed at the prevailing market price and pending orders will be deleted.

Let’s now move on to something which I believe all of you have likely already noticed. The Trading Objective of Minimum Trading Days has been changed from 10 days to 4!
We’ve analyzed the data provided by our traders as well as gathered the feedback, and we decided to make your path to an FTMO Account a little easier.
The change of the Trading Objective applies to all the FTMO Challenges purchased from the 1st of June and their subsequent Verifications.

Hello Rfs199, we’re using the same datafeed and the same pool of liquidity providers across all the platforms we offer. The conditions on cTrader are therefore identical.

Hi ReaperKK, during the Evaluation Process (FTMO Challenge and Verification), you can trade during all the news releases. However, on the FTMO Account, you must avoid trading the affected instrument 2 minutes before and 2 minutes after the release of the restricted news event.
The full overview is available here. Also, if you want to trade during the news releases also as an FTMO Trader, you can choose the Swing account type that allows you to do so.

One thing that FTMO should introduce is the ability to get payouts more frequently on funded accounts.

Ideally there should be 1 payout allowed per trading day on demand (1 payout per business day).
That way a trader who earned a funded account can trade for a session make a profit and transfer the profit for that day to their account and start fresh the following trading day.

This would be in alliance with daily MDL resets, since the MDL limit moves every midnight in relation to the account balance at 23:59:59 CE(S)T when the MDL resets to the initial 5% limit of the initial account balance. The difference between MDL and Maximum Loss (ML) is that MD L always resets at midnight CE(S)T to 5% of the initial account balance.

If they cannot do not daily payouts that then at least they should have 1 payout allowed every 5 trading sessions (basically once a week) instead of every 14 days or 30 days. The ability to get daily payouts would be in alliance with daily MDL resets, since the MDL limit moves every midnight in relation to the account balance at 23:59:59 CE(S)T when the MDL resets to the initial 5% limit of the initial account balance. The difference between MDL and Maximum Loss (ML) is that MD L always resets at midnight CE(S)T to 5% of the initial account balance.

Even if you have a swing account which allows holding of positions through sessions - the MDL still resets daily the Maximum Daily Loss resets at midnight CE(S)T! Let’s say you have a Swing Account and on one day you had total profits of $18,000 - consisting of a closed profits of $4,000 but you also have open position with open floating profit of $14,000 and at session close those open positions with $14,000 floating open profit are not closed (because you have swing account). Even in swing accounts The MDL limit moves every midnight in relation to the account balance at 23:59:59 CE(S)T when the to the initial 5% limit of the initial account balance.
If you swing hold this $14k profit position with an open profit $14,000 after midnight and say the market overnight retraces against you and now your $14,000 swing profit is now reduced to $4,000 then you have violated and your account is closed even though you still have $4,000 profit left on the ($14,000 carried over swing profit). Whereas if the $14,000 profit was intrasession only and you ended up with losing $10,000 before the same session ended and have $4,000 remaining--that $4,000 can still be closed out and you have $4,000 profit and no violation. And with daily payout--you could have chose to instead stop trading all together that session and close out the $14,000 profit and stop trading for that day and have it paid out to you that day. Then start fresh the next session that occurs after the MDL reset at 23:59:59 CE(S)T with a new $10,000 MDL to trade against.
At the very least FTMO could introduce positive trading metrics that if achieved/earned over time then the trader qualifies from that point on to earn the right the get daily payouts if they prefer them.
To offset any incremental costs to FTMO that would occur with daily payments they could simply charge a fee for any daily payout withdrawals to cover that incremental cost

If they did not want to introduce faster payout periods (such as daily or weekly) and keep them as they are now 14 day and 30 day---then in the alternative my suggestion would be that they introduce a change to the Swing Accounts whereby the MDL daily reset on swing accounts would be outlined as follows:

1) On swing accounts - For new session the amount of open profits at previous session close is added the previous days standard MDL base limit amount--so in the example above the previous day standard MDL bases limit for $200K account size is $10,000, the trader ended the session with $4,000 closed profits and $14,000 in open profits (from position still held) at session close. When the new session opens--since it is a swing account the new MDL for that session should be $14,000 plus the standard base MDL of $10,000--which would be $24,000

Whereas on a non-swing account where you cannot hold positions into next session ---if you have $14,000 in closed profits during the session -- and the session is still open you have now actually $24,000 adjusted MDL left for the remainder of that session ($10,000 base MDL + $14,000 added to MDL---however--only applicable for that session til it ends--as it is not a swing account)

This is actually already true, as along as it's in the same trading day period.

But come the next trading day, MDL resets to 5% of principal account value - it ignores profits achieved?

Just a thought...

The new 4 day rule is a good move - frustrating this is on new accounts only though...

Now sat on a step one for $50k (£35k) and have to wait 10 days for really no reason at +25% (target was 10%....)

Yes--the way the rule is now--you are actually penalized (in my opinion) on Swing Trade Accounts--- by that what I mean is by the MDL reset on Swing Trade Trade accounts being the same as non-swing accounts --it actually ends up coming a "Trailing Drawdown" on Swing accounts--

Examples:

Non-Swing account - $200K account - the MDL is $10,000 (meaning $10,000 below the zero line (the zero line being thee starting account balance for that session), in this example we will simply use that for this session the starting account balance is $200,000 - so $10,000 below that is $190,000. In a Non-Swing account during the session you close out $14,000 in profits in the 1st few hours of the session and your account balance is now $214,000---and now for the rest of that session your MDL has now increased to $24,000 (intra-session only) - meaning you would have to now lose $24,000 to get back to $190,000 to fail the MDL for that session

Swing account - $200K account - the MDL is still $10,000 in a swing account as well (meaning $10,000 below the zero line (the zero line being the starting account balance for that session), in this example we will simply use that for this session the starting account balance is $200,000 - so $10,000 below that is $190,000. In a Swing account during the session you open up positions and those new positions are now up $14,000 in profits--which now bring your account balance to $214,000 and you decide --since this is a swing account--to leave the open positions open at the close of the session and hold them into the next session.

So the MDL resets, now the next session starts --however your new line in the sand is $204,000 as the new zero line--meaning if your positions decrease from $14,000 in profits down to $4,000 in profits you have now failed and your account is closed (so this has in effect converted the fixed drawdown benefit in a non-swing account to now be a "trailing drawdown" determent now in a swing account). A swing account has a much lower available trading margin multiplier than a non-swing account so in my opinion part of the allure/benefit of choosing to trade with a lower margin swing account over a higher margin non-swing account should be that your accrued profits are added to the base MDL. So if we take this example--how that new added benefit/feature of a swing account would work is as follows:

Example of Swing account - $200K account with accrued MDL feature - the base MDL for a $200K Swing account is still $10,000 as it is now (meaning $10,000 below the zero line is a fail which would be $190,000 (except in the new modified feature swing account the MDL zero line would stay fixed at $190,000 in succeeding sessions as well as it would conversely allow for the accrual of profits to add to total MDL amount in future sessions (meaning only the original $10,000 loss of $200,000 down to $190,000 remain as the fixed MDL fail risk). So taking the example above here is how this method would differ--we will simply use that for this session the starting account balance is $200,000 - so $10,000 below that is $190,000. In a Swing account during the 1st session you open up positions and those new positions are now up $14,000 in profits--which now bring your account balance to $214,000 and you decide --since this is a swing account--to leave the open positions open at the close of the session and hold them into the next session. When the new session starts your accrued MDL for that session is now $24,000--meaning your swing account would then have to lose $24,000 during that session to get to $190,000 (the base fail amount)--to then fail. Carrying this one step further lets say during the 2nd session you ended the session with your swing account with an account balance of $225,000. The MDL then resets before next session and now your new accrued MDL for the swing account would now be the difference between $225,000 and $190,000 which would be $35,000 - so in that session you would have to lose $35,000 in order to get back to base MDL of $190,000. This accrued MDL method would give further benefit/incentive to have people choose the lower margin Swing account while still capping the initial account risk at the starting MDL of $10,000 below the initial starting balance.

Otherwise--it seems like you are just better off sticking with the regular account as you have more margin and the benefit of the accrued intra-session MDL and closing all positions before each session close--as there seems to be no benefit to holding positions in a swing account and being subject to what is effectively a "trailing drawdown" in futures sessions

Although to be clear on this--- I still think the most significant beneficial change FTMO could make would be that they would allow daily payouts on funded accounts. That would be more beneficial than changing anything about for the MDL is calculated session to session on the Swing Account. What my suggestion would be is that for those traders that choose daily payout availability that FTMO would charge a addl fee of either 1%, 2% or 3% on any daily payouts user requests and if the user instead just want to opt to be on the regular current payout availability (14 day and 30 day) then that fee doesn't apply.

The additional benefit to the trader (as well as FTMO) for daily payout is to that it also gives the trader an additional incentive to manage daily intra-session risk and stop the trader from over-trading. The trader can have a daily goal profit--they make that daily profit goal, they stop trading for the day and after that session closes the trader can be rewarded by requesting and receiving their payout for the day. The the next trading day the trader can start fresh again and repeat the process. That would also create less risk for FTMO as it would encourage daily goal (since you can also get your profit paid to you daily) and encourage not to overtrade

About to pass verification stage with FTMO for the second time on $50k / £35k account: 1 day left to hit the 10 day minimum target.

See if I can be little more level headed this time around when "funded" and not treat it as a race. I certainly wont be looking at the leader board like last time around.

Actually managed to hit profit target on first trade here, very fortunate to long NQ when it made a big run up and I decided to hold with the mentality "what's the worst that could happen with a BE SL set" - since then just poking around with trades.

Can I also make a suggestion to this thread - to the people who come here saying they have received pay-out from FTMO, typically first time posters to this thread...

Post the pay-out certificate here, with the QR code - there is a reason FTMO have a legitimacy verification process of pay-outs, so use it?? - otherwise your comment is pointless. Also post your certificate for verification pass stage, that should be a given!!

Saying you have received $10k, $20k, $30k+.....

I hope you’re all doing great, welcome to another quick update here at ForexFactory, let's start off with some trading updates.

Due to scheduled maintenance on Saturday, 1 July 2023, all platforms will be unavailable for trading from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Kindly be reminded that on top of this, cTrader also has different trading hours during the weekend. Therefore, make sure to manage your trades accordingly.

Due to Independence Day in the USA on Tuesday, 4 July 2023, the following instruments will be impacted as indicated below.
On Monday, 3 July 2023:
US Shares will be closed all day;
US2000.cash will close early at 8:15 pm;

on Tuesday, 4 July 2023:
US Indices (US30.cash, US100.cash, US500.cash, US2000.cash) and JP225.cash will close early at 8:00 pm;
GER40.cash will close early at 11:00 pm;
Metals (XAU – Gold, XAG – Silver, XPT – Platinum, XPD – Palladium) will close early at 9:30 pm;
US Shares will be closed all day;
USOIL.cash will close early at 9:30 pm;
UKOIL.cash will close early at 8:30 pm;
NATGAS.f will close early at 9:30 pm;
USTN10.f will close early at 8:00 pm.

Also, please note that US Equities and EU Equities had their margin requirement increased to 30% for the Standard account type and to 100% in the case of Swing Accounts. This means that the new leverage is 1:3.3 for Standard Accounts and 1:1 for Swing Accounts. The change came into effect on Monday, 19 June 2023.

I'm pleased to announce that all Portuguese-speaking traders will now have the whole FTMO website in their mother language! We launched the Portuguese localization this Tuesday.

Hi SPX500trader, more frequent payouts are an interesting idea and a feature that we might be considering in the future, however, our 14-day payout withdrawal policy is already at the top in the industry. Increasing the frequency would also mean a significant workload increase for our accounting & payments department and for now, we don’t find implementing such a change as necessary.
Regarding the change of the MDL Trading Objective you suggest, I do understand your point of view, however, please note that we are mostly looking for consistency, which we achieve by “pushing” traders to not risk more than 5% a day. Including the trades that were open in the previous days in the Max Daily Loss calculation would not keep our traders within the 5% risk a day and ultimately could represent a risk threat to our live accounts.

Hi there Jezzode, as I responded to SPX500trader above, we perceive consistency and discipline as the most important traits of our FTMO Traders. That is why we would like them to risk no more than 5% a day, regardless of the profits made in the previous days. Professionals should stick to their rules, regardless of if they had a good or a bad day before.

Hi again Jezzode, I 100% agree, there is never enough transparency in the industry. We’ve seen dozens and dozens of fake certificates by people claiming they made a fortune with us & luring others to purchase their mentorship, join their Telegram etc., which is why we’ve added to QR verification as well.

Why do you think it is bad for traders? It is far from evident, I believe it is advantageous for some type of traders.

You have to be in profit for the previous free retake or extension to apply. This new rule however now means you basically keep that profit and continue with your account as their is no time limit.

if you were at a loss in your account, but still above maximum allowed drawdown, you would not get the extension or free retake option.

im struggling to see how this is a bad move by FTMO.

this now means you have a guaranteed extension, regardless of where your account is, as long as you don’t exceed max allowed DD.

One had a free extension or a retake if they were in profit otherwise they were getting nothing. Please explain why you think it's bad for traders.

I hope you had a profitable week, the US inflation data provided us with plenty of volatility across the majors and indices.

Let’s start off with the platform updates as usual. Due to scheduled maintenance on Saturday, 15 July 2023, all platforms will be unavailable for trading from 12:00 am (midnight) to 6:00 am. Please note that the market close for all instruments occurs prior to this time. Kindly be reminded that on top of this, cTrader also has different trading hours during the weekend. Therefore make sure to manage your trades accordingly. All times are expressed in the CEST timezone.

Moving forward to the big news I assume you’ve already heard of - Unlimited Trading Period!
As a part of gathering feedback from our traders, we realized that the removal of the 30-day and 60-day Trading Periods was among the most frequently mentioned requests. When we realized that removing this rule would be beneficial primarily for conservative, risk-averse traders, the decision was made.
All the FTMO Challenges purchased from yesterday 11 am CEST (and their subsequent Verifications) have an unlimited trading period, which means you can take as much time as you need to pass. Along with that, we take down the 14-day extension and Free repeat features, as they no longer make sense with the unlimited trading period.

Hello Ak386, replacing the 30-day Trading Period with an unlimited one is ultimately a better deal for all traders, compared to the free repeat or the 14-day extension. When the Trading Period ended and traders were profitable, they got a new FTMO Challenge and started back from zero. Or got only 14 days extra to meet the Profit Target, assuming they had at least 5% profit 3 days before the end of the Trading Period.
Now, you don’t need to stress to get back in profit within a certain time period, you have all the time in the world to get there.
