Sometimes the unexpected happens and you can't really explain why. That's the name of the game.
Because of all of the models applied to financial time series, the best model that can both explain "usual" price movment and the unexpected, e.g. black swans, chaos theory wins. Those unexpected events are a part of the chaotic system, not some strange outliers that are not explainable by most other systems.

Yeah, tbh delving into this topic probably yielded the single biggest improvement to my trading. If you take your strategy, then imagine where you'd put your stop loss. Enter your trade where you think your stop loss should be instead. This one step will get you closer to thinking like a pro. Try and figure out where breakout limits are likely to be clustered. Even look into the fx futures limit order book. Enter there in alignment with your bias/trend determination.. This morning after LO we triggered a bunch of buy side limit breakout orders and reversed-- would have been a good short.

Speaking of stops, mine got it breakeven. Ahhh well. Got greedy.
