Buy stop had been filled at 1.8815 and current price is at 1.8811. 5 mins before the announcement.

GMT +8 and I am from Borneo (so it's geographically GMT +9 or +10) and I had a loooong forex week.

Divine, I also put a buy stop that triggered at .8811, but I too put a "tight" SL at 30 pips, in case of the NFP whipsaw.

Seriously, goodnight for now, but I'll leave my PC on

closed position at 1.8810 as the price move from 1.8845 and quickly fell down below 1.8800. Hence nett loss is only 5pips instead of 40pips. Also cancel the sell stop order.

On such a day I always borrow from Brad Angelina Jolie and we practice Mouteki crossings together. Definitely beats the GBPUSD super spikes.

Hi salamander,

When I use the straddle method, I expect the profit should hit above 50pips. hence when the price shot up only above 20pips and reverse quickly, I just close my position as fast as I can, this is because the quick reversal is another signal tell me that the initial spike is false. I also need to cancel the other order (sell stop ) as the price is in reversal trend which also mena the price may not dive as much as expected. Hence my loss is only 5pips.

A good straddle will work when the price is really shot up/fall down more than 50pips. Any price less than 50pips or above 20pips isnormal as long as there is no price reversal occurs.

I fully agree with you as I only use straddle method during the major news announcement. In normal trading day mouteki method is my prefer choice.

Oh I feel so sick. I moved my EUR/CAD stop to +10 and got stopped out by a spike. If I hadn't got itchy hands and had left my short intact, it would be like +90 and still counting!

Thank God I didn't have a new entry... and my old position has been offseted before the release of NFP...
My broker's server crashed due to overload (maybe) just after the release...

Well... sometimes doing nothing is a good strategy...

hi...

well I would bet there will be many compliants over the next day or so about how they could not get out of a trade or close one due the the brokers freezing there platforms...

The swing seem's to have come from a revision of the Aug numbers also released with the other data...

There still needs to be some questions asked...why such a big move 30mins prior to the release....always expect some movement...but geez..that was 60pips.

Exactly. What's 150 a month for the right tools? I paid for an eSignal subscription for awhile before I ever got consistent... but I knew that was money well spent...

Angler, I thought you mentioned that it was because of a breach of the 1.8735 fib level?

Would sure like to see that article, if you don't mind posting the link. I searched and couldn't find anything.
