this is a very interesting and critical point

I know there are a lot of cable bears out there

but from a purist view, it looks like it may have completed a valid reversal pattern and is now looking for more upside (significantly more)

the fibos relationships also seem to imply this..., still its a high risk situation until we get some visibility or a proper break

you're welcome Lirbig, but remember that we can only help so much, because we are also trading, so time is precious and everyones's style is different. It is possible to say to someone "short now!" but if it goes wrong they end up losing money and you feel bad for the bad call.

You have to find a method that works for you. You're correct to put pivots on your chart. Also consider Stochastics, RSI and MACD. I would start with a slow Stochastic and study it - read on the internet and see how to use it to enter trades. Then add RSI, learn about "over-bought" and "over-sold" and "RSI divergence". Those are powerful tools and when combined with your Pivots and Trendlines - you'll start to develop your method.

If you want to understand how price moves you must study Fibonacci ratios and learn how to put them on your chart. This is the most important thing for a trader, but he or she must first learn the how to use the "tools" - the indicators that show trend momentum - learn how to interpret Stochastic, RSI and MACD and then move on to Fibonacci ratios. Practice these things in Demo.

the mrs (actually shes my girlfriend) travels to Hanoi (in addition to Bangkok and Jakarta) 5-6 times a year for business (she works with Asian Central Banks)

I may join her on one of these trips and come say hi

Im super jealous btw

I would kill to live in southeast asia

life is simpler, people are awesome, the beach is right there, the food is superb... and (for the capitalist in me) cost of living including taxes, is a fraction of what im currently paying...

but i love my time zone, i can work from Asian closing (1 hour before japan closes) to ny closing...

i hear good things about Koh Samui. I'm building a house in the deep south of Thailand since all the tourist spots have now become passe for me... I like to be in the rice and palm groves with the slow easy (sabai) of daily farming life. The south (despite the Malaysian/Thai territorial dispute which is a hangover from colonial days) is really easy-going and rural with good country people and the tastiest food (and ladies - i caught me a "Dah Ling" from there ) in all of Asia!

i need to work on convincing the mrs to give up this city life and move to the hills with me...

you can live here if you want, DHT. The main consideration is family that become suddenly distant but the internet and telecoms are good.

I initially came to Thailand on an unresolved family matter... enjoyed the country and went back to Johannesburg. Now Joburg is a goldtown gone Boom! and it has a crazy energy and I like that city, but one winter's morning i was sitting at my tradestation, freezing hands and heating turned full... i thought: "I'd rather be doing this in Thailand" and6 weeks later i'd relocated. Evrything costs half - even though i stay in a resort.

Like you, I've always liked Asia - the people are very similar to us Africans but without the underdevelopment and subsequent broken economies and crushing poverty and everything that goes with that. Buddhism as a national religion, combined with centuries of benevolent monarchy has made Thailand a relatively comfortable place and everything is just so abundant! I can't remember the last time I paid for coconut, fruit or vegetables... my wife and I just pick them from the trees around the bungalow - and were in a resort!
