Great stuff master Phillip, I wonder if this strategy concepts are similar to your classic 5 min Intraday (which I trade), I guess I'll take a look to find out.

Hi. I'm somewhat new to forex and I started paper trading this system on eur/usd and cable around october 2011, trading only trend continue signals. I had quite a few good trades, but then around november all my trades started to lose and I was getting whipsawed out of every trade, so I stopped for a while but kept an eye on the charts, and almost every single tc that I see seems to completely reverse. Has this method stopped working or is it just that I'm not applying it properly?? Has anyone else had this problem?

Evening Men,

Have been reading Mr Nel's 4hr system for just about a week, can anyone tell me if their was a sell off zero on the 13th at 20.00 at a level of about 1.3203 and 2 tc trades ,one at 16.00 on the 14th and another at 16.00 on the 15th.
These times are for Ireland/u.k,are these actuall trades within the parameters of Philip's system ,or am i just looking at stale data with rose tinted specticles ???

Thanks....

Arrow.

Hi,

Please see attached image, it's my opinion about those trades :

13.02.2012 16:00 - it's a valid signal on MACD (bounce from zero line ) , but where is the price ? It's above 89 SMA right ? so we still have uptrend IMO. You could trade this one as a CT trade, with very small risk ( 0.5 % ), SL above previous candle ( 30 pips ), first TP at 89sma ( +45 pips ), so Your RR=1.5

14.02.2012 16:00 - price moves away from 8 and 21 ema, but it's still CT trade ( you should wait until 8,21 ema moves under 89sma ), RR looks good.

15.02.2012 16:00 - it's more valid signal than the last one, but RR is very bad ( SL = over 100 pips, first Tp = 200 sma = 70 pips ) 0.7 :/

TC trades should be taken only in the direction of a trend !
8,21 and 89 moving averages show us main trend on 4H.

Hope this helps You :-)
It's only my opinion

Phillip,
An unrelated question: after I acquired the Combo Package - a while ago - I subscribed and was receiving your weekly forecast for the next week on Sundays. These mailings stopped. Did you stop making them or for some reason my email address was kicked out from your mailing list?
Thank you.

I know how you feel. I am in almost the same position. And I have no answer as to what I have done that is not correct. I wish someone here could help me answer my questions too.

Q1: is this using 4hr MACD or 1 hr?
Q2: only trade with 21 and 89 ma? What about 21 and 8 ma? I see that many a times price move on 21 and 8 ma.
Q3: what r the other ma for i.e. 200 and 365ma?

here is some explaination for my late trade:

It is all based on 4Hr.
The 1 hre chart is for a fine tune.-I know that some people based their trading on the 1hr chart. But I don’t. As per M. Nel the strategy is called 4H MacD Strategy, meaning that the set up should be looked on the 4 hr chart.

For the SL: in this case, already my entry is quite stretch, meaning look at the 8ema(red), look like if I wanted to pick up the highest apple on a tree.
The best would have been with a lower Macd, giving then some room to the pair to move up.
I knew that this trade is more risky, just because of the entry: quite above the 8ema, and the Macd quite high.so my SL is about under that strong green bar.

Look at the daily chart: looks like still bullish to me, just at a break out level and the MacD is still low, so some room available to the up side.- I know that there is still 9 hrs to go to that bar and it could go back down, but it should keep its bullish momentum, that is why I did put my SL right there.
It is not a perfect trade . considering the same opportunity the It could have been at a lower entry around 1.3230 using the 1h chart as a fine tuning.

hi

I didn't took this one because price moved away too much from 89 and 21 ema ( over 100 pips ) Philip told many times that TC trades works best when taken from 21ema. Second reason is that US market is closed today, so don't expect big moves in US session.
