After watching that movie, pay for the Audible book called Flash Crash from Liam Vaughan. Here we learn how a bloke trading from a small bedroom in a flat in a London neighborhood who was trading E Mini S&P Future contracts got blamed for destroying the US stock markets on that bad day in 2010. It tells a great story how by spoofing, one can collapse world markets by just using a simple Algo that places huge limit orders 5 ticks above market price. This is important because traders like you and me can watch the limit orders on the books now, tonight or whenever we decide to look - and can predict Future price.

We can guess the future 5 seconds ahead of time quite accurately by just watching the tape.

You know what I love most about "modern people" ..... you're always so kind to show what you have no idea about by saying things that prove you do not have a clue what someone is talking about. I see you still have so much to learn RickM. I still use TA every single day and my profitabilities have not diminished. So once again someone like me doesn't "need" the RickM's of the world to concur with what I've said.

If anything is dead in you people, it's basic common sense that turns into foresight. Technical Analysis is a very broad subject. But conveniently people love to "rewrite history" to suit themselves.

I have found, whenever you people claim something is dead, wrong or bad, usually has more to do with the fact that you struggle to use it as a tool. What else could feasibly explain why you all keep arguing over the stupidest things but expect to be treated well. It's not a good start.

STOP saying Technical analysis does not work - using volume is doing TA ??????????????? You are badmouthing your own work - the people shorting gold here are GAMBLING - do u see the difference????
here is gold for the last 2 weeks - it is in a uptrend - price is above the rising moving averages - basic common sense is u ONLY GO LONG when price is above the moving averages - it puts the odds in your favour instead of fighting the trend. So therefore the people who are shorting gold are going against the trend - that is GAMBLING - it is not TA - they are gamblers so stop saying TA does not work

Instead if they wanted to short something they should of been short crude oil. Here is the chart of oil from last 2weeks - it is in an downtrend - price is below the falling moving averages - commonsense to make money going short - do u see the difference??? TA works

So STOP badmouthing TA - TA worked a hundred years ago and still works today and will work a 100 years in the future. People shorting uptrends are only gambling and DUMB - they are the 99% that lose money. I have been trading for 17 years fulltime making BIG BUCKS from TA - i use TA everyday in the markets - i trade a 7 figure account that i started from nothing - TA works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Steven agree with you there're plenty of dumb traders and dumb trading strategy with zero edge. Draw fancy colored horizontal lines extrapolated from previous high low and label them support and resistance is Dumb. Gambling, guessing and dumb. Cheers

Good on you, however I think you would find most people using TA would be short on Gold.

I am looking at the Gold Futures chart which tells me 75% of orders coming into CME markets are SHORT.
Most traders are using TA and they are getting it wrong - very wrong.

If you are Long using TA for your signals, then you are a rare breed and therefore I can understand why you are making good money.

My point has always been MOST TRADERS GET TA WRONG - THEREFORE TA DOESN"T WORK

The facts are price moves bullish when Sellers enter into the markets
The facts are price moves bearish when Buyers enter into the markets

Why do Sellers enter into the market when price is moving up?
Why do Buyers enter into the market when price is moving down?

Are these traders so stupid because they believe in TA and decide to always be on the wrong side of direction.

U mentioned RSI a couple of days ago - shorting overbought in uptrends is NOT TA - RSI is to be used in ranging markets only and not trends - can u see people are gambling shorting gold and not using TA
TA works with both newbies and professionals - the problem is the person using it - if they don't follow the TA rules than they are gambling

There is lots of TA trading strategies that work - the thing is u have to find 1 that suits your personality. I mean do u like trend trading, support and resistance, price action etc. U need to find one that u can follow the rules without fail and not get emotional over the wins and losses and then do the backtesting to see what the results are - no strategy works everyday or every week but over the longer term will work - Newbies and losing traders keep changing strategies and wonder why they lose money - typical beginner cycle

the biggest reason people are losing money is they have big losses and small wins and use too much leverage - leverage is there so u get greedy and bet big and blow up your account - emotions !!!!! newbies and losing traders get very emotional which causes them to make bad decisions
To make money in trading u have u be very disciplined - it matters a lot. most people have to work a job as the employer gives them the "" rules"" to follow to do the work. when they trade they don't follow their trading plan because they don't have a "" employer"" to kick their butt when they make a mistake - keeping losses small is difficult to do for most people
