I don't show that. What timeframe?

They fixed the error, it was definitely there and acknowledged by MBT.

Hi Justin,

First the good news...

I had an issue with a 1500 pip spike in GBPAUD a week or so ago that caused a trade I had open with over 150 pips my favor stop me out with a loss of over 200 pips, then go back up to where price was initially, all in one 1M candle (no, that's not the good news). I logged on to chat with Danny (a little surprised to get someone at that time, being very early Monday morning here in Taiwan) and he got me sorted out and back in the trade in just a few minutes. Great stuff!

The bad news...

I'm getting a lot of "no connection to server" errors on my Photon VPS machine (with an MT4 account). This never happens to me from my computer here at home. The errors are coming very frequently now on the VPS, both when I manually try to execute a trade (or modify) and also when my EA's attempt to manage my stops. Is this a Photon issue or MBT issue?

Thanks in advance!

Jack

Did you contact the trade desk or Mt4 support?

Cheers

Yes, I opened a support ticket, they promised to call me - I'll post the results. I just want to understand, what is their protocol for handling such cases, the specific loss wasn't large.

Jdwbryan,

While I haven’t heard any complaints from anyone about Photon’s VPS connections, if you want to send me your name and email via private message, I will have Photon check your VPS (or you can contact them directly).

Justin,

I believe banks don't accept orders smaller than 100K, then what do you do with for example 10K orders ?

You aggregate all those small orders in house and then offset them with the banks ?

Justin,

Can you shed some light on this matter ?

Coco,

Short answer, only because we have discussed this on the forums numerous times. It is a very big misconception that banks will not accept anything lower than 100k. If you build the proper relationships, some (not all) of your banks will accept these orders and treat them like any other order coming through the system.

I thought we moved past this in 2008.....

Might be time for you to create an F.A.Q document to put up on the first page Justin.. Would probably save you a lot of hassle.

***EDIT-- Ignore this post, problem has been fixed. Update your AVG and you should be ok.***

Anyone having trouble installing build 226 with AVG antivirus, open AVG and disable "Resident Shield". Run MT4 and liveupdate...then restart MT4. Check in the help>about section to make sure you are at 226 (just to on the safe side...you should be if no errors or virus threats came up) then you can open AVG again and enable the Resident Shield again.

Bad choice, did that and afterwards could not even run MT4. Had to go back and reinstall 221 from MB site...until they come up with solution, best not to update and close the update request at startup

***EDIT--Ignore this post...problem seems to be fixed now...just update your AVG.***

Sorry I didn't restart MT4 after doing this.

BETTER FIX:

If you already tried what I posted above this will allow you to run MT4 again... or even if you haven't this should still let you update etc...

Open AVG, then open Resident Shield, then click the "Manage Exceptions" button at the bottom. In the box that pops up, click the Add Path button on the right. Choose your MT4 folder. Save your changes, then you can start MT4.

EDIT - I just tested this on a second instance of MT4 and confirmed this will allow you to update and run MT4 without a problem, just make sure you do the steps in AVG before updating and all will be well.

Yes, but if a real virus happens to go to that folder in the future, you won't be protected...I will wait until they come up with a solution...I don't even think that MB wants you to update to 226...that is why they still have 221 in their site to download

Turns out they used a piece of software to protect the MT4 code which triggers AVG to report it as a virus.

crogram filesmbt metatrader 4liveupdateterminal.exe shows that it's infected with "themida"

This file should be added as an exception.

DO NOT add "themida" as an exception though! Your system will then be open to other hacks that use themida for evil purposes....

I think AVG changed something or MT4 MB changed something but it is installing fine now with AVG all active.

I submitted the file as a false positive to AVG, though I'm sure many others did it before me. The change would have come from AVG, as I just removed the exceptions and restarted MT4 and it worked fine...I have not reinstalled MT4 at all. My AVG updates daily...so as long as your AVG is updated there should no longer be problems.

AVG is great software, but my one complaint about it is all the false positives.

FYI -

We released an updated version of Desktop Pro this week, build 60 which added the ability to dock (float) and undock various windows to and from the main desktop. This allows you to float your windows across multiple computer monitors.

Download 60 Now

If you have any questions about using the Desktop Pro, please let me know.

Justin- A friend mentioned that he has checking acct/debit card connected to his FX acct with another broker. Has MBT considered a similar offering? That would be unbelievably convenient and I could leave more funds in my trading account to work with.
