Firstly, 谢谢你 liunliun for contributing your system and for your continued guidance here. I am new to Forex and have been practising with a demo account for one week. I found this thread yesterday and have just finished reading all previous pages. From your feedback to others I think I have a good grasp of the rules. However, there are certain cases where I'm not 100% sure whether the chart has transitioned into "nothing", "trend" or "no-trend". I have attached an annotated screenshot showing the state I believe each segment...

Your entry looks correct, exit is premature - candle had not closed so W2 ended UP, not down.
These graphics for the rules are not a 100% correct, better read Liunliun's posts until you get it.

Yes exactly, White 2 dipped lower but candle hadn't closed yet, jumped on it too early. Could have made about 40 pips.

{quote} The first one W1 is above Y1 - thus "No-Trend" rule of W1&W2 must be within Y1and Y2 is negated. No Entry. The second one - a "No-Trend" trade is following another "No-Trend" trade - thus the "Trend-No_Trend-Trend" sequence rule is broken. No Entry. LiunLiun- correct me if I am wrong. If you think about it the 2nd trade is a "W" pattern's 2nd bottom. This system (somehow using displaced bands ) avoids entering a trade in the wrong direction. I am taking some liberties here in putting this theory out. This is my own understanding not the...

What I don't understand is that for a "trend" to transition into a "no-trend" it must pass through a state of "nothing" (i.e. the white lines must swing 90-degrees across the yellow channel, and that turn involves bending of white lines). By this reasoning you would never be able to make an entry if you excluded all potential entries in a "trend/no-trend" phase that was preceded by a "nothing" phase.

Am I missing something?

As Liunliun said before- 'indicators' are not the main point here. Understanding the market is.

- If I may take the liberty to remind you that in Turtle's strategy - there is a less quoted and forgotten rule. You don't take the trade of a 21 day BO -breakout if the last trade was a success - but if it travels ahead and reaches the 55 day BO then you do take the trade.
This system kind of helps you to stay away from the first shorter time frame BOs- probably when White is below Yellow, but enters at the White and Yellow cross ( no-trend), and then above when White is well above Yellow- which will correlate to 55 day BO.
- Apologies to Liunliun if I had diverted his system - my assumptions above can be wrong.
But what I wanted to say was not to depend on the Indicators too much but only to the extent it shows where in the trend you are and hence adjust your appetite for risk in the particular trade in that particular instant in that particular instrument.

Took +40 pips a while ago. Got in a bit late - not that easy to catch the right moment, also because of the repainting whites...

No its not dead. I think those that grasped the concept are trading it and there is no need for endless charts of trades. It is all here to absorb and hopefully profit...

This information was the missing piece of the puzzle in my trading journey. It looks like it my robot more stable and profitable. I did not copy the system but was inspired by the classifications of the market.

For yours and my inspiration, this the USDJPY backtest over 6 years. No tricks no martingale. I have the same results for GBPUSD and trying different markets now as well. Hope you guys have similar results using Liun's advice.

Just wanted confirm that the approach from Liun is valid and the philosophy behind it is working for me ( I am using a similar system, just did not classify the market in such a manner). I don't want to hijack the thread, but was excited as it seems I am finally leaving the breakeven period of my trading journey.
