I only have 1 MT4 running on the free t2.micro account with 1GB of memory. I've never had any issues with reboot on the windows 2012 server, but then again you need to make sure you turn off automatic windows update when you configure your instance (obviously). And yes, you can use remote desktop.

Cool, Thanks. I was scratching my head trying to get a handle on it. Are you still on it free? Do you have any idea what it will cost after the free period since it charges by use, not a set monthly fee? Thanks in advance.

Suggestion:
- Suitable if your broker servers are in New York, otherwise no.

- Linux is reliable, There will be no surprise or reboots, actually I have never restarted this server before.

Hi Eventhorizon,i contacted interserver customer service ,and they informed me that i can install 2 mt4's on 1GB ram ,and as their ram for the 10$ vps is 1024MB ,i understood that i can use only 2 mt4,so could you kindly confirm me if you are using the 10$ service with 8 mt4's,so i may try them?Thanks

Yes, but only with the 2012 windows NOT, I repeat NOT with the 2016 windows option, as the 2016 chews so much memory you would need the 2gb of ram.
So it would be hyper V with 2012 standard 64 bit, as per the attached image.

It may also depend what EA's you are running on 8 mt4's. Mine are pretty basic. But if you have 4 charts with 4 EA's on each mt4 that may be a different thing.

Also note! As soon as you get into your VPS, go to windows update and set it to manually update, otherwise it will automatically update and restart which will close your programs. I only update windows on the weekend, and I always restart my mt4's on the weekend as they sometimes have updates.

Are you guys aware that VPS providers have complete access to your VM? As in, even if you delete all other user accounts on your OS and take various other security measures, they're still able to access your files.

No they can't because they have separate users and I know it because they told me so.
They have it for troubleshooting.
Let say they took the file, what's the use of it when they somewhat understand it? No loss for us as well. It's just an EA or indicator than only you as the owner who can wield it and understand it.
Furthermore their user account can't access your folders because it requires your password in order to access it. Therefore if you feel insecure or don't have trust on them, try changing your password so they can't access it using the default password.

What good do they get when they have your file like EA, Indicator? Presuming you're afraid they might change your Indi/EA code.. If so you can put the ex4 file instead the mql4 file.

Hi EventHorizon,

Tried to take up the $0.01 1 month trial with InterServer.net using the code 001TLWH as advertised on their website! However, when I signed up, all I got was a 50% discount (so to pay $5 instead of $0.01), see arrow B in the image attached. Also, followed your advice - HyperV, Windows 2012 Standard 64bit, but I am not allowed onto the next step until I buy more slices! (see arrow A) in image. So, a bit perplexed by InterServe's offers!

OK, Support are telling me the 1 cent offer is just for OpenVZ, which is linux, not windows. KVM and HyperV for windows is just 50% off. I didn't know this. They didn't tell me. Sorry.

No worries EventHorizon. Thanks for looking into it. The other issue as well is that one is not being allowed to sign on for the windows VPS with just 1 slice. One has to purchase a minimum of 2 slices, bringing the cost of the first month (with the 50% discount) to $15, and $20/month thereafter. I accept it is still reasonably priced, but obviously a far cry from what I originally thought - a $0.01 first month 'windows' VPS! Anyway, thanks for mentioning the offer; I am sure you did it in good faith.

Sorry. I was not aware of the changes. I still only use 1 slice, and its fine. So it makes it more expensive. But still has the best ping to wall street I have found.


Yea, I just tried the purchase. Now must choose 2 slices with windows. That is a shame.
