{quote} This is a big bank/fund that caused the crash playing on weakness of the GBP. Will have caught many big boys out too.

hmm, my understanding of how the market is structured is different. even if the 'big boys caused the crash' there is no liquidity at the base for them to get filled and t/p. the bigger their push down, the harder it is to find matching liquidity on the other side.

imo this is the future of markets as we move into 100% electronic execution and algo are used to control risk measures.

if 10 dealers pull out all their orders when a sudden spike happens at off hours -- then whats left are orders that are several hundred ticks apart. market orders absorb liquidity they don't add to it.

Which bucket shop are you trading with? There is not a chance you would have gotten exact same fill price as your take profit in these conditions. It should have slipped a lot lower in price. You would have gotten a lot more profit in positive slippage with ECN broker.

Some brokers may have gone under with that move if they had too many longs on their books.

Totally agree. Because otherwise, if it was some kind of meltdown or whatever, it could be an excuse to shut down small trader (like US) access to the Forex market. Sure we know there's risk involved, and that we might lose our whole account... as I'm sure many did today. But I think we'd all agree that we have the right to take that risk if we want. Even if there's always a risk of losing, it's still fun, and potentially profitable to PLAY THE GAME. It would be a real shame if we lost that ability.

Even if this was a fat finger/flash crash trade, we are going to test that 1.15 low at some point in the near future which should lead to fireworks across all markets.

This is the area many people in the market were aiming for since July.

I agree with you there was similar crash on stocks caused by 1 single Pakistani programmer.I watched a program on it.He used special algos to trick other algos to sell if I recall correctly
In trading, you have to be defensive and aggressive at the same time
