the markets nowadays move faster than before because life in general is faster... the exchange of information is almost instant... therefore everything is like in some sort of a fast-forward mode...

i mean that even if the market now goes to something like 1.7590 level it only means that the TL should be redrawn... though the image stays the same even in such a case... diamonds are rarely perfect and can be asymmetrical or tilted a bit...

and after few hours it went to 1.7590, can you see the future? )) i'm glad you are back Igrok!

you didn't need to wait to enter your long position until the diamond break out.... you could buy it much lower... i gave you well in advance the perfect level to do it it - at 1.7590 with stops at 1.7546... this would be your basic position... and then another one could be added to it on the actual break... this is how i usually trade diamonds... you have to act just a little bit ahead of time by making an attempt to catch the entire final diagonal of a suspected formation...or , at least, a bigger part of it... anyway the break was imminent... if so, why not to enter at a better level initially?...

I totally get you, I was also waiting for the perfect pullback but didnt really know where and a didnt remember where you usually put the stop. I should have drawn a parallell to left upper border as right lower?

I learnt a lot today about diamonds and got some pips on the way.

Thanks a lot!

Igrok, do you differentiate the concept of trend vs main move of year... for example. I understand more on main move here but never hear much about trend in yr trading concept.
The future depends on what we do in the present.

the trend concept is one out of three basic TA concepts... though it's too vague and uncertain to actually be able to benefit from this axiom alone... therefore i offered a concept of main move, which is a practical tool do deal with trends... let's say for example that we all know about the basic law of gravity but in our everyday life we deal with it without thinking too much about it and invent some tools that either work with it or defy it for some practical purposes... same about my case...

have no idea what you're talking about... template 18.4 is about trading in the direction of the main move of a certain period of time with stops on the other end of the current intraperiod range...

How did you come up with 1.7590 as a probably level? How do you draw the line for gettign that?

this one i call a "phantom level"... you remember how i draw the left lower border of the diamond that was different than yours?... and that on my chart the low of one of the diagonals didn't reach my line?... so, if to make a projection of this imperfect bottom onto that left lower border line i drew then it might be a good potential level for the low of the last diagonal that was building on the right side within the diamond....

So the main move of the month is down for Eur Jpy at the moment and stops could be hided behind 116.36 level. It looks everything as per rules, im a bit confused.

it's true but in this case the stops would have been too far... i don't trade such concepts... instead yesterday i took a long position on cable just 20 pips above the month's low... you always have to remember about risk/reward ratio... on this cable trade i was risking just 20 pips with potential profit of about the entire monthly range...

Hello Igrok
could you paste the chart as you see the cable?
