Disliked{quote} Hi Hishamzz, I can tell why SL is somewhat useless in grid with your own chart. I don't say we can't use SL, nor encourage people to not using it, but just trying to look at the facts first before applying it. {image} if you take a look at your chart, the fact that reaching at the red arrow is considered being "okay" and quite lucky. There is a reason as to why 2015 is considered one of the best years to backtest your strategies.. and this is due to the vast amount of uncertainty causing price to trend without any fundamental reasons and results in most algos going into the red.. The way i was told this backtest was performed is by taking the average DD over the period of time to come up with an acceptable SL in order to not run the risk of bringing the account to the ground..
Mind you whatever my buddy was upto is almost a mirror to what you had done i feel.. one of the features I have already implemented in a version of your EA and shared it here which is a parameter to tell the EA to NOT trade on specific dates.. I probably can ask him to provide me with a 2 year backtest but lets see..
I do understand your argument in it being somewhat not efficient but I feel it is more important to save capital than to gamble on a retracement. Just my view of things considering what I had gone through in my times of forward testing different set files using your EA
Is there a way to sandwich multiple backtests to come up with a single overall backtest?
