Powell states: "If incoming data continue to support those expectations, I would see it as appropriate to continue to gradually raise the federal funds rate. Depending on the incoming data and the evolving risks, another rate increase may be appropriate fairly soon"

Powell is a neutral- if he is turning hawkish, Yellen must be

Figures have been strong, all the other fed members have been more hawkish

I did take a short position last night (admittedly it was about 1 in the morning uk time) - and if it recovers a bit during the Asian session will be be going short again

Tomorrow will be a busy day

Thanks Bones. There has been lots of Bullish sentiment over the last few days but I kept your advice in mind. Why wouldn't I listen to the resident GU expert? This thread needs you in my opinion (and I'm sure many others would agree).

Also there has been no negativity over the last few days which is good.

Experts in and Negativity out = very good thread.

Monthly still looks bullish at this point anyway as we came off the 88.6 fib with strong 1.53xx resistance above from 2010-12. There is also something curious going on with GU which I have been watching for about a year or so now

Have been looking at the news regarding Yellen's speech.

Some are saying that she may not mention interest rates as its not the right venue

and that we might have to wait till Yellen's speech on June 6th

But it cannot be fully discounted

There is an interview afterwards with a Harvard professor- not sure what that will bring

However, there is also US GDP figures out today- which I think on balance should beat expected- they have for the last 5 months

Will have to wait and see

The GDP data is quarterly so it couldn't have been beating expectations for the last five months since it's published every three months. However the consensus is 0.8% which might just be a tad optimistic. I see a 0.7% and it could rattle the market, especially on a Friday when profit taking from this week's rally kicks in.

There's no real news that I'm seeing though Sky has popped up a story that BofAML is looking to flog UK credit card firm MBNA. The firm holds around £7bn of loans on their books. That might have sparked some possible M&A front running.

Theres talk out there that cable can still go 1.4770 next couple of days but myself I'm wanting a pullback to 1.46 first, just have to wait and see with no bias either way

If it doesn't move much next 35 minutes there's an indecision candle forming on the 4hr....
