If you trade base on technical analysis, its still important to look at upcoming events, because liquidity occurs at events and sessions. Technical analysis doesn't move the charts. Try to lower your leverage next time especially during events. 100+ pips move is normal, so if your account cant handle this move, then you are over-leveraging. Good luck to you next time.

Sometimes it does seem like some supernatural power is after you, causing you to lose. Not so, of course, but I note that you took a loss at 180 pips, which is not a stop that I would allow to take me out and for the reasons you mention, namely, large sudden moves caused by celebrity blabber. If you have entered correctly according to the trend direction, you might consider weathering it out until things calm down and the long term trend resumes. I used to suffer such huge surprises too, until I decided to not listen too much to all the noise and advice of "experts". For example, lots of folks downgrade moving averages, MACD and such indicators because they are lagging. Personally I find them most useful, precisely because they depict elapsed history which suggests a continuing trend, if used correctly. To me it seems best to simply follow what the charts are telling me, while staying out of the market until the dubious celebs and experts have stopped their blabber. It always amazes me to notice how much nonsense is spouted by said experts, who really have no clue of what the future may hold, so they hedge their opinions by "If.....maybe.....it could be that... it would seem.....one can expect that....and on the other hand".

Read "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglas. Everything you do in the market is *your* responsibility. Nothing is ever the market's fault; it only presents information for you to see and what you see depends on how much you've learned about what there is to see in the market. This book is excellent for learning how to acquire the mindset required to be a successful trader.

The market is random, therefore trading results are random. What's essential is not what the market is doing; it's what "you" do with "your" results (it's the only "stable datum")
The market is a vessel filled with total nonsense. A chaotic mess that has no rhyme and no reason. Only "you" can make any sense of it knowing that the information that "you" believe is there is false information.

Every market is an auction market, either passive or active. Dude, i am technical trader as well. However you should avoid either entering new position on news or exit the position before there is high impact news release, especially the ones which is coming from USD.

For your heads up look for Fed news about rate interest on 16.12.2015. STAY AWAY FROM NEWS on that day as it may just do the same move, because of speculations all over the world that expect Feds to raise the interest. Anyway if you trade that day, you may as well think of it as gambling on roulette table where you bet black or red and see where the ball lands.

No joking. I do make in FX but what i make in a few days i can lose in a few hours. Take today for example. Euro and GBP rose so fast over 180 pips on some pairs and i was short on those pairs SL around 180pips and it got hit while when i make price rises typically say 20-40 pips in my favor before it retraces or totally reverses and i need to change my TP closer. I think i really am cursed. I feel that a supernatural being/power is making sure i lose.

If you are a "technical trader" looking at the calendar is important just to see when to stay away from certain trades.
Lets just say your technical analysis says that the market is going up and everything points towards that yet there is some news that could completely ruin your analysis it's important for you to read that calendar and to either stay away from a trade you would lose money on or trade that news as a "fundamental trader".

If you see my quotes and you're wondering why I put that there here is the reason:
In my opinion there isn't such a thing as a technical or fundamental trader. I think every trader should know about both and keep both in mind.

It could very well be he's correct in theory, and you're "wrong" in your application.

"price over time building value", is "structure", there's nothing random about the "reality" in which Auction Markets operate.

You make my point...........

Choosing to view the market "price to price" (linearly & 1 dimensionally i.e. bar charts, candlesticks) without changing your data into a 2 dimensional "price-time" format, is looking at the market through a narrow 1 dimensional lens. "Value" is a 2 dimensional variable, and cant be viewed through a 1 dimensional lens.

That's why "for you" it's not possible to reliably distinguish between "price over time building value" or "randomness"

We are both entitled to our opinions,

I do not believe on nay supernatural power for making loss. it is our weakness in trading that results in loss. Mostly people blame market or luck for loss they do not try to make them self skilled , they do not pay attention to risk management to avoid loss.
