But it will come back to re-taste the low region to give room for seller to exit before going the major up. Yes, good explanation. The extreme happened in the SNB desaster - with the artificial price cap, there were literally no orders under the magical "Limes". So when support cracked during the announcement, there was nothing to hold it from a 1000 pip drop within seconds. The less liquid an asset, the faster it can happen also.

price stuck between yesterdays poc 0763 and fridays close, poc and yesterdays VAL (around 0736).

EVZ @ 12.31 on 11/09 (https://www.cboe.com/micro/volatility/introduction.aspx) currently prices in has open interest for ~170 pip move. Since it is a volatility index ("measures the market's expectation of 30-day volatility of the $US/Euro exchange rate by applying the VIX methodology to options on the CurrencyShares Euro Trust (Ticker - FXE)" quote from the cboe page) it doesnt say if the move is up or down.

Thanks, I see what you are looking at now. It is actually trying to measure the sentiment of investors as measured by volatility in the open option contracts. So I appreciate your point and those meters can be useful. It is not actually priced in though as the under lying assets have not moved in price, but a gauge of what the option markets are expecting all the same. The big issue with options as a gauge is that you never know how many of them are being used as a hedge for the real asset position.
