Looks like the 640 or 620 break is important here, fighting over it...

I think this is loading more shorts so that it could go up and dump them before resuming downward trend

why would you even compare UJ and EU? Euro is digesting and trying to price it's new QE price right now. JPY is way past this point. This is 100% a E/U game right now. I think implicit in your comparison is an undermining in the sheer magnitude of this E/U digestion's effect on the market right now. And the fact that Germany is now openly accepting a leadership role in pledging EU stability only puts a black cloud on the short thesis.

The main issue right now in play its 1.063x holding the roll (especially the weekly roll) as it will first set the low of the month and second it will kill all volatility (it has been a wild 2 days as expected with the FED) for a few weeks.

In simple words, the only way to keep the pair kicking in terms of short term volatility it's a very quick break down to the 1.050x handle ...

hope my question makes sense.... does the price of oil affect the EURUSD? I know it does, generally speaking, but in this market condition, isn't the EURUSD price mostly influenced by the ECB and their QE program?

EUR/USD is an impact directly correlated but minor in effect. OPEC output and demand are the strongest drivers of price and bear in mind that Oil per barrel is measured in USD therefore strong dollar = weaker oil price. You need to look at inventory levels, Geo-political risk and tankers at sea, any political risk in oil producing countries and armed conflict all play a part. So the answer to your question is yes and ....

So the second part to your question. QE has a net de-valuing effect on price and if you add negative deposit rates, these are the primary drivers of the low EU... Then review Greece risk and its fairly sure that policy support the EU being weak for a while
