Keep in mind though that the situation back then was quite different than the situation now. The financial markets were literally on the verge of collapsing, led by US banks. All the banks in the US just passed the mandated stress tests.

Today, we have gradual easing by the ECB in a controlled manner, and the Greek situation is also being handled in the best possible way. The Eurozone is actually not in that bad of a shape.

However, and this is key, the Euro is still overvalued. Most of the central banks across the world are easing while the Fed is on the verge of tightening. The dollar will reign supreme over the next couple of years; there is no avoiding that. The line has been drawn in the sand and the accounts have already been settled behind the scenes. The powers that are now in damage control mode to prevent the markets from panicking. There will always be a retracement, as the EUR/USD cannot fall straight down, that's not possible. 1.05xx was/is a key technical and psychological level that prompted heavy profit taking. Yet, we have only seen a one hundred pip bounce. This is not a correction. I'm trying to be as objective as possible.

I think what your point about 2008-2009 is valid, but in a different way. That huge spike up, is now being wound down: this downward pressure in the Euro is the inverse of that move; not the other way around. So if anything, your point only further supports parity and below.

Edit: This could definitely go higher. 1.08, 1.09 and 1.1 are on the table. But the selling will resume. You're definitely right; money/risk management is key, which is why I won't be going long.

DP tested. 50 % retracement done and bounced from there. . Possible to retrace upto 50 % again. Below 50 % for today is bearish. Having said that I am long with SL This is only for Intra day trade.

Speaking of which, I got no problem with starting to buy EU right now (if I suppose holding for 2+ years), as was waiting for cycle to finish up to 1,07. Think this is going to be quarterly consolidation mid and current trend is monthly overshoot.

Is just easier for it to run out of steam, I buy when I get confirm of finish.

nope not arguing just opinions, your statement "KNOW" is very dangerous term to use, if you could "KNOW" what the market will do this is called the lost "HOLY GRAIL" as far as I know it is still "LOST",

The only thing anyone really "knows" is what has already happened!!! ie "trend" it is easy to say we are in a trend down, sell sell, this mentality is silly, everyone knows what is to the left of the present candle, its not rocket science, but no one knows unless market maker what will print to the right

There are only 3 phases to forex up / down / turn around the turn around phase is called "smelly finger" phase the up & down is called the meat phase,

Traders get burnt in all 3 phases depending on time frame and risk will determine the profit / loss

I accept selling in a down trend is optimal for some traders, whilst tight traders with strict mm enjoy the smelly finger phase, problem is considering what is going to print to the left?? is in all reality unknown and should be treated as unkwown

Like saying we are in a down trend, when it HAS been dropping hard for nearly a year is like "really, wow" then to say it will keep dropping is like "really, wow" one of these "really wow" is fact one yet is to be proven, the only one can be traded is the 2nd:nerd:

Best of luck on your long if you decide to pull the trigger. There is event risk coming up with FOMC next week though which I'll be watching closely. If the tone changes, I will change my outlook and buy, but not until then.

absolutely no clues what so ever

If I was to show running short trades from high 1 39,s all the way to 1 2131 most achieved during smelly finger phase I would be called crazy (which is apt title)

when aussie was 1.10 gator was calling 64cent I was little more generous calling 72cent and for kiwi @ 8835 was calling for 74 - 76 cents we had bucket loads of shit thrown at us, oddly most them not around no more

I have been super bear for years eu au ku gu since 2009, last few months I have been trying life as bull, thus far has not proven very successful, but I am still here, still trying, nothing goes one way for ever
