Ok, time out for me.
Nikkei correcting and only word from BOJ will take out the highs there and here. Trading into all the old daily range support now. We're at 118.80 S: 47 is support and 119.22 R above. Time to dust off those range playing techniques ... again.
And SaP about breaking highs. Could be massive.

maybe UJ just said goodbye 120 for a very long time, it's on a long vacation somewhere south, to warm up the old bones.

don't know this flirting with 120 how's gonna end but it seems that this level is not in love with uj. indices in the sky, bonds in the sky(yields down the hole)..strange times.

I knew there was a reason uj was stuck in that tight range for a month... When it breaks out, they talk it right back down.. Pure BS... BoJ intervening, theyve done it before.

Gotta stay away from this pair for bit...

I always said a month of 2 of bad data for US and the tide will change for strong dollar story.. BoE already talking possible rate cuts (if they slip into deflation) after everyone believing a rate hike is coming at end of year, central banks all cutting rates, all data has been down, except employment numbers... But Lets not forget that the fed has said to give room for inflation to stagnate but short terrm, and to expect downside on economy...
So, either time for tide to change (probably with 1 bad nfp report) or until feds rub our backs and tell us everything is fine, (or very far from fine)

oscillators were overbought on nearly most of the timeframes..should have been a hint something was coming.

oversold/overbought sometimes in a strong up/down trends.. monthly rsi14 was around 78 when UJ was at 112.xx so it was in a zone "overbought" for some 900 pips till 121.84 high. and with all those CB interventions I'm not sure if all known strategies and indicators work any more.

It probably would have, except for the random comments at 3:15 am about the currency being weak enough, which just happened to coincide with the UJ finding support at 120 and starting to advance upwards again. The BoJ probably does not want it above 120, so that could be the last time we see it for a while potentially.

Or maybe it will miraculously recover and be above 120 again by tomorrow. But I wouldn't count on that.

well, trends cant keep going up forever and this pair had been shooting up well

I still think dips are good buy opportunities for this pair. Japan's economy and overall situation is still in the dumps and US will raise rates in June. To me, 125 is next target, just may take a little longer to get there now with thanks due to BOJ's comments.
Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.
One concern I just thought of about the BoJ wanting the yen not too weak, is that to keep it from getting too weak they have to sell dollars to buy yen. They only have a finite amount of dollars to intervene with, versus trying to keep the currency weak where they could just print money as long as they want to do so. But they could also fight back by announcing a QE reduction. So it is probably best to not do the opposite of what the CB wants.
Those betting on never see 120.00 again please raise the hand .............
