i have a account with them too. It is concerning. Being that they are one of the bigger retailer brokers, it is also crippling them, so for the smaller brokers it is pretty much game over...

Is interesting to read messages full of hate against SNB or even threats to sue them ...
When a trader will have the full responsibility over his trades that could go wrong? There are stop losses, hedge systems, money-management ...etc...
Don't get me wrong, I was affected as well about this movement but ... I learned something

Let's not beat a dead horse. If you researched thoroughly, you'd see some people's SLs were not honoured because of no liquidity. Moving away from forex traders, the SNB even caused some brokers to go broke and close up shop and the article http://www.forexlive.com/blog/2015/0...-january-2015/ says FXCM lost 225 million in client losses. It was an unprecedented move and it may eventually change a lot about the way forex works as brokers would look to protect themselves more. The only good thing is that now the market knows not to trust any CB esp SNB and so the institution/removal of a floor would never have the same effect again.

i say to guys asking if must cover negative balances? Never ever transfer any funds to your brokers regarding this issue. Tell them to fxck off, seriously, they cant even bite ur axx instead, search how u can bring back some money by reviewing the auto exit prices ur account got stopped at you must still have some money in it due to margin requirements....etc they must pay u...be aware of this point...ask for ur rights

Can someone please tell me more about my rights in the UK? My broker is saying I owe them an astronomically large amount (my balance is showing A NEGATIVE NUMBER much more than the amount I deposited). I do not have the money to pay this and I'll lose my house and family to even pay a fraction of it. PLEASE PLEASE can someone help me! Do I need to pay them or not? Can I negotiate? They said the price they could first trade at was around 1.00 (so an instant fall from 1.20 to 1.00!)

Anyone?

Mostly likely yes, you really owe that amount now and you have to pay unless you are with FXC blah or oan blah as far as i understand.

I made good money off of this....

But I am enraged that there wouldn't have been some sort of "heads up" about this.

I mean if you think about it, they had to have known this would happen!!!

if u r a uk citizen and they r not fca regulated the latter will not listen to them

let them first prove there was no liquidity in market from 1.20 to 1.0!!!! a quick refresh of memory, it took some 10 minutes to 1.01

It really depends on which broker you are using. Oanda has decided to protect their brand by doing the right thing, earlier poster says Saxobank is asking him to pay, FXPro is waiving it. FXCM is asking clients to pay even though they advertise this at their website.

http://www.fxcm.com/uk/support/faq/margin-requirements/ (Look at the last question)

yeah smooth price updates but dont over value or thank them, all good brokers have negative balance protection even before u open live account they have it announced as a feature.
people u r forgetting the existence of margin call stop out % and margin requirement. the broker must respect at least one of these, that must not result in negative or zero balance

2 options for the swiss mafia bank scandal decision:

1. they did it from panic, so they must get sacked soon, they dont qualify for this job, jordan not even a boss on his wife

2. theres a conspiracy behind this decision, they must be sued.

no doubt, but ask them why there was no respect to margin req. stop out % it must not go to negative or even zero esp. that they had liquidity all the time.

when it comes to this kind of shxt, i am afraid the bucket shops would go as far as legally claiming the negative amount we owe especially for those bucket shops who already advertised loss could exceed initial deposits.

its not some kind of emotional opinion or personal wishes that could free us from the fact that this is some real contractual and legal obligations between us as investors and our bucket shops.

for all of those who have negative balance, please speak up and keep everyone informed. we need to unite together, stand firm and fight back. this is a war!

again, this is some real shxt and i know it could be a matter of bankruptcy or not for some people.

please stand up and share what you know.
