By my maths this means the CHF has 'gained' around 15% of its value in seconds...thats not the sort of thing one sees every day...I see news reports saying in some markets its gained as much as 30%...

The difference is that client-side actions works when broker is not honoring SL (read cases above), and doesn't give away money to brokers when they spike to hunt. That is, it works for you not the broker. Admittedly, this chf was a degenerate case, extremely uncommon.

Anyway, now that this pair is back in market's hands, it will self-correct. the franc is now so overvalued that it really make sense to buy anything in Europe and resell it in Switzerland. Swissies buy properties abroad, export dropping, and we'll go from there. It will take a while.

I see a lot of anger at SNB because they failed to keep their promise to defend the 1.2000 level for EUR/CHF with utmost determination... I think it should have been clear for every one that they'll do that as long as they find it necessary and their interest dictates to do so. It was actually expected to drop the peg one day once the economic conditions would change.

Why red swan? A black swan is a major unpredictable event that affects you regardless of the way it affects you. It's a black swan for both bulls and bears.

Am JUST waking up to the shock. Fortunately I was not in any trade let alone E/Chf, which I abandoned trading months ago after a sustained loss from 1.23 level followed by weeks of practically micro-pip movements. Guess I shouldn't name names but my broker stored quoting U/Chf & E/Chf and a few other Chf pairs since 4:30 am EST. Curiously, N/Chf is being quoted, which allowed me to derive U/Chf. I thought we had dropped "only" to 0.98, where my broker stopped quoting, but it's more like 0.88!!!!

Never lower that 1.03 on FXCM. I guess they had wiped out already all the longs by then.

media report 0.805, but it was something immaterial probably.

Was this possible on CME currency E-micros?

I mean: are stoplosses honored on CME curreny e-micro futures in such situation?

I had stop on the FUTURES market (CME/GLOBEX), and everything was really fine.

But OANDA just did what they already did and totally SUSPENDED EUR/CHF and USD/CHF for more than 1 hour !!!
Let's see what they will do about it, but they created a gap of approx 1000 pips on USD/CHF and 1500 pips on EUR/CHF with this !!!

Surely they can't just not ignore stop losses if they had been set up?

Dukascopy was locked out as well for EUR/CHF trading when it happened...Wanted to buy on 0.88 but was unable to

Lowest on Dukascopy was 0.8051 btw..

Right now, they have HUGE GAPS and only honored stop losses after the gap !!! Maybe they will resolve it.
They even margin called people only after the gaps !!!

And all people that were in front of their screens or running EAs to handle STOPs (that was my case unfortunately) just couldn't do anything !!!

Wow I'm impressed I shorted CAD/CFH 3 days ago no TP. Been trading forex 10 years never seen anything like it. I closed my trade and the money is in!!! Now we see if they screw me. Oh i doubled my account
