This year is hard in fx. Market has dropped to very low volatility and GU is mostlly one directional.
To long pound is too late to short also not very profitable cause who knows what is the higher high.
I am out till 2014 october.

after the h1 bullish abcd pattern, we have now another bullish abcd pattern in H4 this time... see chart...valid till 1,7065

1,712-1,714 might be a good target before going south again

To me, GBP/USD is a patent example of when you have to go with your gut. Sure, it's been bullish for a long time (since July 2013), and I could probably point to a couple of indicators, moving averages and such that show there is some bull left in there (I've met these indicators, moving averages and such; had 'em over to dinner this weekend). But long? At this level? What? For the 100 pips that possibly exist between its current level (1.7082) and its 7/2 high (1.7184) (which is not that all far north of the 8/2009 high of 1.7045) or some higher, unspecified level that has yet to be tested or broken? Against the backdrop of the end of QE and 2015 interest rate hikes by the Fed? Crazy talk.

Naturally, having said that, I will take my licking if it breaks out .... . But if this guy is smoking something, tell him to stop bogarting it ... . Puff, puff, give, man.

See, I knew I wasn't high ... (at this moment in time) ... . Short from 1.72-ish ... . Maybe long at 1.7010-ish ... . I'll know better when we get there.

Ohhhh, I wouldn't necessarily say that (that the year's been hard, although the start of this quarter blows somewhat). Naturally, if you're shooting for big movement, this ain't the market for you. However, if you're going for relatively conservative movement, you can make some pips intraday; it just seems to bit a little bit more time consuming/taxing, since it seems like you're in and out of trades far more often trying to capture 25 pips (maybe less) of movement half the time, which is tedious ... or exciting. Guess it depends on your trading style. Hate being shut out of NZD and GBP due to their levels, however; limits the items on the menu ... .

I guess I can honestly say that I've had to adapt quite a bit to the low volatility myself, settling for less and such since there seems to be so little follow through half the time.
