Yes long positions can turn on a dime!
Look at my chart.I put boxes at every long turned short in a very short time.
Question is TF
On daily I see no trend but range.On monthly yes a up trend.Question is when you trade goes south 200+pips do you hope and prey monthly will bounce back?Knowing every trend reverses from smaller time frame monthly chart is "investor trader category "
In trading, you have to be defensive and aggressive at the same time

I accept that and could be wrong, Retail expectations are short. An almost year long up move is not going to "turn on a dime"
Turning on a dime as you put it is relative to your time frame, just look at a chart....

How you see this as a range is beyond me even if you are a swing trader,
i guess if you zoom in close enough and ignore the series of higher lows and new highs
