What happened? Look at the Fundamentals!! The Techies will not help here :-(

1. Big move up but low volumes meaning Asian Market Makers are manipulating FX rate, because,
2. Asian Market makers are acting for their clients, and it is the end of the accounting year; so massive money was changing hands as Asian companies bring profits back to their domestic markets.
3. This has happened for many years on The Cable and will happen again this time next year.

Anyway, when Euro market comes on-line , prices usually opposes the Asian markets.

I really did think everything Bernanke talked about re delayed interest rate hikes and the positive UK sentiment was priced in.

Seems Yellen is even more determined than even I thought and I thought she made Bernanke look like a Dovish Choir boy.

The technicals are perfectly clear if you know how to read a chart.

End of year Japanese profit taking doesn't strengthen Sterling. The Japanese need to buy Yen not GBP to repatriate funds.

The GBP Unemployment rate yesterday was the largest single quarterly drop since 1992 with salaries + bonus's edging out the inflation average. Europe bought, New York session was thin volume with the Passover holiday and the short week so price moved sideways, and Asia bought when the markets opened on the back of the good news.

It really couldn't be any more simple.

Japan and China has a lot of money to pump into the system.
and also USD is pretty darn weak at moment. I hope month of May is more fruitful.
Really hate these sudden jump ups and slow downs. It's almost as if something is just pumping GBP up on just 'some good news'.

.... but these "sudden jumps" can be seen in the Fundies.

Today's jump happened about 1 month ago for the same reason.
