EU_My three charts' worth_16.02.14


Monthly: Hmm… it’s a tough one to call on any longer-term outlook, but I’m trying to follow the channel formed by the descending magenta TLs on the monthly chart.

Weekly: I’m also placing a little faith in the pin formed in December on the weekly chart, and which kissed the upper descending magenta TL. Admittedly, the ascending Guppy profile provided support for PA in the last two weeks, but the 38.2 FE may be the blocker for this recent move back north.

Daily: A bit of a mixed bag for me, with no clear direction being hinted at from the Guppy profile.

It would be amazing to me if someone could enter a trade with just 2 pips, or 5 pips, or even 20 pips of Stop Losses IF it is profitable in long run. I am wondering if there are such perfect system or strategy outside world. To me, I don't mind to take hundred pips of STOP LOSS, but what I concern more were R:R on the trade. Congrats if you really had that.

The size of the stoploss only relates to the timeframe you are trading. Imagine you have a turn in price right at 78.6 ret down (my fave) on the 4 hour chart and the candlestick is a reversal (up) or at very least seems to be reacting to that level and its 10.00 London time, I would only look for retracements of the same nature on smaller tfs because my bias is now long, when the US session starts I am still looking for the same thing, if you look at PA like that over time you will start to see patterns in price action. You know exactly where to put your stops when everything else goes wrong. Like with anything, higher tfs give the best signals (more reliable) for bigger moves. The rest boils down to properly manage your emotions which can be difficult at times.

I trade more on larger TF usually and I always enter my trade with confirmation candle, but it is just miracles to me with a couple of candle movement in smaller TF such as 1M, 5M, or 15M could send a message to someone when to enter a DAILY Chart Movement. Just imagine, we have 24 hours for DAILY CANDLE, do you think that couple candles movement in 1M could allow you to forecast of 1440 future candles, or 288 in 5M, or even 96 in 15MINS or even 48 future candles in 30M. So to me, 2,5,10,20 pips of STOP LOSSES is just kind of miracle trade if you are following on DAILY or WEEKLY chart. Even if I trade according to 4H TF, to me it is just kind of wasting my time to read on 1M, 5M, or even 15M chart. If you can use on 2 pips stop loss in trade, probably you will be rich if trading on Binary Options.

You are absolutely right!! A waste of time. I was just trying to make a point on how far this type of analysis goes, if you trade intraday you can use 1 min charts to enter trades (way more false signals) that I have no doubts, but then you have to look into 15 mins 5 mins, market structure is the same in all TFs, you trade what suits your personality. Higher TFs allow you loads of time to analyse and look for opportunities across the board, with smaller Tfs you are glued to the charts all the time making you miss better setups on other pairs and putting all your risk (eggs) in one basket.

What do you mean? 5 pips SL for 200 pips profit is being advertised on this thread on a daily basis.. Just do your research.

Good Morning, (at least where I live)
I've read the thread for a long time and hope that I can contribute at a moderate level whenever possible. There are some very good traders on this site and at the present time...I'm not one of them.

I trade only the eur/usd and my approach is 100% tech.
My time frames are 15m and 1hr and my indi's are MACD with intra-bar divergence and two MA's...81 and 5.

I do not trade these two in unison but rather as separate set-ups. When I learn how to post charts I'll gladly provide a visual example of any and all trades I take. (win or loss)

I trade based on the law of averages and my trades have hard stops and defined targets.

I wish you all positive pips and look ahead to sharing ideas.

I actually agree with a lot of what you are saying. It appears I am more focused on a near term analysis and you a bit further out. I like to be aware of the longer term trend so your post is helpful.

When does the change of trend (box color) actually appear on your chart? Is it when a new monthly high or low is made?

forgot to add that 105 was also a monthly support pivot, this trade was a risk of 2 pips if you set limit(yes 2!), could drop harder as well but some buyers steped in. I am bullish atm and it cost me 5 pips risk. If you are not in, it is better to wait for the news and as always trade the outcome. gl

Oh my gosh… I don't mean there is no one out there, I am just saying I don't have one and never found one. I prefer to touch the leaf on the tree first instead of bypass it and trying to touch the skies actually.

Yes, sometime I do have perfect entry too such as 6pips DD vs 1000 pips profit, 18 pips DD vs 250 pips profit but to me that is called JACKPOT just like playing on slot machine. But I never open a position with 20 pips of SL if I am trading on DAILY chart, and I never ever planned a trade using 20 pips of SL with 200 pips of expected minimum profit. So it is miracle to me to enter a trade with 2 or 5 pips SL.

FX got nothing to do with gambling, if you check previous posts I was expecting 105 as it was half move of the major swing and a monthly pivot, I had a reason It was not coin toss,Plenty examples from other members, I learned good things myself from few.

You obviously need to learn about PA and interaction between TF

I do think Fx (trading in general) has great similarities with gambling, the only thing here is that you are trying to be the casino and play a sample on whatever edge you have got. Any trade doesn't matter what kind of setup, is based merely on probability.... cause you never know who is on the other side of your trade, these are not my words but it is something I have been able to experience and if you think about it, it makes perfect sense.

Yes mate. Please don't get angry, I can't do this doesn't mean other people can't do too, I understand this. As always, I just don't have such good confidence with couple of pips SL and 100 of pips profit. They do have interaction between TF, but I never believe a couple minutes in smaller TF could shows the whole momentum for larger TF. In example, I trade on WEEKLY, I do look for smaller TF for entry and SL but newer lower than 4H. If I trade on DAILY, I will look on 1H for ENTRY and SL. I will more prefer the max to 1H if I have intention to add more position if the momentum was right.

I am not angry at all, but if you limit yourself to H4 you will always see low risk swing trades as a miracle, that's it.
If you want trade weekly you start on monday and watch daily, if there was a huge move on friday you wait till you see pullback on H1 (example) then if you are right drop to M5/M1 and place your trade if you see PA in favour of your thinking,
Easy to explain, much harder to master

FX requires two sides of trade, buyers and sellers which creates supply and demand, which has impact on price value - how do you see this similair to poker or black jack?
