Found this while my eyes are still peeled..

"
A strong dollar against its major currency peers is a central bet for many banks this year but the sharp move higher in U.S. Treasury yields that had been expected to deliver that trend has so far failed to materialise.
One explanation is that a sell-off in emerging markets, the other side of a shift in global capital due to the Federal Reserve reining in monetary stimulus, has benefitted other currency areas at least as much as the dollar."

Looks like capital flight from EM into euro because of the possible FED further tapering..

"Greek jobless rate hits new record of 28 pct in November

With 1.38 million people officially out of work, economists say a
turnaround will take time, even if recovery sets in this year.
Some are also worried about the prospect of jobless growth."

Barclays and others face fresh Forex claims
Seven global banks, including Barclays and UBS, face new claims of alleged foreign exchange market manipulation in the first US class-action lawsuit to include “original research that highlights unusual price spikes in euro, sterling and other major currencies”, the Financial Times reports.

It is not necessarily true that higher UST yields are a necessary condition for a stronger dollar. The historical evidence says otherwise.
I have no clue what I'm talking about.

It's a bit early yet, but I think I have to change my perception about what 'risk-on/risk-off' really means...UJ bear, equities bear, EU bull?

Yep. Its exactly that. If you see comodity currencies(aud, nzd) selling-off (losing versus usd), they will lose as much or more versus the euro.
And If you see them gaining versus the dollar they will win even more versus the euro. So dollar will paradoxically seem stronger.
Edit: *correction*

Everybody will change their perception, when it hits around 1.40 it will be common knowledge.
I'm already seeing sell-side/hedge-funds caputalating a bit hehe
